Not sure how, but I would guess a lot more than a thousand have 160 plus.I wonder how they decided on 160 points?
Same logic as previous, ie everyone who has 160 points or more should be able to get one?
It makes sure Gold Card holders get first dibs, regardless of whether they have any away ticket history.I wonder how they decided on 160 points?
I don't know I forget how they allocated the points now but the guy who came in to be Ticket Office manager (and then left as quickly as he arrived) explained to me that the logic was that when they set the points target everyone with that amount of points (and more) should be able to get a ticket - any left after the initial sale went to the next targetNot sure how, but I would guess a lot more than a thousand have 160 plus.
Fair enough. It makes sure Gold Card holders get first dibs, regardless of whether they have any away ticket history.
Again referring back to the guy who came in as ticket manager when the points system was introduced he said then there was around 3000 Gold Card Holders - that was when, 3 years ago? I've lost track of when points were introduced............How many have 160points.....
I will put my head in a place to be shot at and be embarraased but I will have a dabb at estimating.
Boro's Grey Guard from the 1990s with Gold Card (over 50s now) = 4,000ish?
Chairman's Drinking Army (fans with season ticket for 5 years, but not 20) = 5,000ish?
but need 5 away games as well - knocks it down to 2,500 ish
New Red Army season ticket holders with 10 away games with points = 1,000ish
Others not many with 160 points wityhout a seaosn ticket - it would be over 60 games! - 0ish
75% of the Grey Guard don't go to ordinary away games and probably 50% of Chairman's drinking army
That gets it down to 1,000 plus 1,250 plus 1,000 = 3,250ish
I would guess not all of this group want to go to a Sky game in London on a Sunday with Covid still around. However its a first game back so this 3,250 will take the 1,000 is my estimate. There will be some under the counter transferring to friend and relatives.
The points system was introduced in 2019, so we haven't even had a full season of it yet.Again referring back to the guy who came in as ticket manager when the points system was introduced he said then there was around 3000 Gold Card Holders - that was when, 3 years ago? I think that's fair comment and needs to be looked at but at the same time season ticket holders shouldn't be disadvantaged as they are the ones who put money directly into the club. The thing with the Priority points are too much emphasis is placed on season tickets. As when you no longer live near boro you attend alot of away games yet will never build up sufficient points to be able to get tickets for these big games despite going to about 17 away games a year! I think the points system should be more progressive say if you attend 5 away games you get a 10 points bonus if you attend 10 away games you get a 20 points bonus and if you attend 15 away games you get 30 points bonus etc. That would be a better format.
Fans who plow money into MFC should rightly get the benefits. The thing with the Priority points are too much emphasis is placed on season tickets. It would be interesting (and I don't know why they won't) if the club were to release details officially of how many Gold Card holders there are. What is for certain is there will be less now than when the Points scheme started and there won't be any more.DCI - thanks for the info on Gold card holders - it probably make little difference to my figures as the Grey Guard tend to travel less. It does mean we have a bit more newer season ticket holders than I estimated, but they need to have gone to some away games in Woody's season to get up to 160 points.
Boro4Life - you are right - to me it should be 4 points for any game attended - 20 home or away games is £600 paid for an adult = 80 points then seems fair.
Why should someone who has just bought one get the same priority over those who have had them years and gone to plenty of away games though? When tickets for high demand games can be limited you need some sort of priority system in placeNo value in buying a season ticket this year; certainly not for me anyway. They're charged at a higher price than existing and you're still at the back of the queue for away tickets. There's little benefit from it other than cheaper tickets on the understanding that you attend every game.
The longer you have consecutively held a season ticket should determine how many points you get. Someone who has had one for 1- 5 years should not get the same points as someone who has had one for 5 - 10 years. The points should be bracketed and as you move up you get the extra points. Why should someone who has just bought one get the same priority over those who have had them years and gone to plenty of away games though?
