Labour MP asked to leave the HOC

Unfortunately theres another class buffoon waiting to take the current class buffoons place....This Tory party stink to high heaven.....Sorry Hartlepool but youve been hoodwinked big style
I mean if we, the electorate didn't keep voting for these pig shaggers, we wouldn't have this concern.

Whilst I agree with her that Johnson is a lying cünt, she should know the rules, whether they are right or wrong. There is a parliamentary process that she signed up to. I don’t agree with it, but it exists.

She is however one of the many MP’s who fiddled their expenses by claiming for a second home she didn’t need, claiming for a jacuzzi to be fitted into one of her houses, claimed more for her constituency office than she should have done as well as claiming for food shopping.

So, whilst I agree with her, let’s not pretend that she is any different to the rest, regardless of what colour rosette they wear.

So first thing you do is go on the offensive and deflect, pretending all MPs are the same etc etc.

She should rightly be ashamed of her expenses claims, but to try and tar her with the same brush as Johnson is completely ludicrous.

How many billions did the jacuzzi cost?

How have I gone on the offensive? I said that I agree with her, but its a bit pot kettle calling someone a liar when they themselves are a liar.

"Under parliamentary rules, MPs are not supposed to accuse each other of lying in the chamber."

Seems a totally unnecessary rule in a place as virtuous as the HOP surely?
I can understand why it’s there, cos people can just say your lying

maybe the rule should you can only accuse of lying with evidence to back it up

How have I gone on the offensive?
It's called "whataboutery" and it is the favoured tool of the Tory Shill.

Johnson is a liar, he has been sacked from every job he has ever held for lying. If the Speaker will not hold him to account for it (the Tories favourite John Bercow would have) then I hope that a succession of Labour MPs repeat this every time the PM stands up. Liar Johnson is a disgrace to the office of Prime Minister.

There's always a way. Disraeli, on being instructed to withdraw his allegation that half the cabinet were knaves, asserted that half the cabinet were not knaves.

I often wonder how people like @uncle_rico live with themselves. Defending the entirely indefensible. I'd love to know what goes on in his head when he decides to defend Alexander and his lies. There are a frightening number like him too.

Good on her. This is where all opposition party MPs should unite together and do exactly the same speech. Make it be said absolutely everywhere. Show some b***ks and fight.
The problem with doing this is if it is repeated the mp risks being suspended from parliament. If you are suspended from parliament for more than 14 days your constituents have the right of recall. This would trigger by elections that Labour may lose.

The rule is there mostly to counteract parliamentary privelige I believe. Someone can stand up and say whatever they like about another mp without fear of legal consequence.

For this reason they have rules on what an mp is allowed to say and how they say it.

Dawn Butler has been banned from the HoC for a day for correctly saying that Johnson is a serial liar.
This is the same punishment given to 5 Tory MPs found in breach of code for attempting to subvert the course of justice in a sexual offence case relating to another Tory MP.

One of those 5 MPs happens to be his ‘ex wife’ who took over his old seat of Dover.

Where’s Mr Plod?

I think, in this day and age of instant news, we have to be careful with MPs going for the obvious publicity stunts to get coverage.
Rules are rules. Although, I agree with her, but you have to play them at their own game.
Getting booted out plays into toff de feffeffelfel's hands. This is the job for the leader of the opposition, not some back bencher.
It is so obvious to anybody that has watched him for more than a minute that he cannot think on his feet. Dont give him easy questions that he just bats back with pre-recorded answers and tory boy one liners to the roars of sycophants. if you get onto him he starts to flap, wave his arms about and posh waffle with greek mythology - starmer (an experienced QC) should be roasting him each and every time he faces him.

Agree with posters who say more MPs should do it to raise awareness and make people take notice. They need to make sure they can absolutely prove any allegation of lying but with Johnson that's not hard.

The "rules" are not fit for purpose anyway. Johnson has bent and broken plenty since he took office with little or no consequence. He's been taken to court over it. He (or more likely Cummings) worked out a long time ago our Constitution has no teeth and have repeatedly taken the **** out of it.

Tories have been playing by different rules for years. Time for other parties to fight fire with fire for me. Its only way to get through to certain parts of the electorate.
