The Hundred

I don't understand how. If you don't understand 6 balls in an over then what difference is 5 or 10? Not significantly shorter than T20 either.
Less teams and so backing your local team isn't an option for many.

I don’t think it’s the format of the game they are using to atttact non cricket fans it’s the whole presentation and the marketing. There were loads of kids in that crowd last night. I think they are using music and DJs and had Becky Hill playing during the interval. For the benefit of anyone over the age of 30 she’s a pop star…..

Plus it’s on the bbc so you don’t need sky to watch which can only be good.

I was sceptical but I enjoyed that match last night. And they are trying to attract a new audience aren't they? Apparently the Big Bash struggles to keep families until the end of the match because it goes on too long into the evening. Hence the Hundred being shorter and trying to be hard over on 2h30m. And they want to attract the 'youth' who primarily live in the city and identify with their city rather than Lancs, Yorks etc. I missed not seeing a typical scoreboard put on the screen but I can see how the simplified, 'balls left, runs needed' is easier for kids to understand.

I am just about to Google Becky Hill

Then again I know roughly half of any 'celebs' on 'celebrity' shows like bake off/come dine with me or I'm a celeb get me out of here.

I'm officially old😂

I prefer the 300, will give it another watch tonight as its on the bbc but I think a franchise t20 might have been a better idea, it works well in india

I've watched 15mins build up tonight and it's doing my head in. So cheesy with lego avatars and voice overs and jokes between 'ebbs' and 'Freddy'... Jesus christ😕

One of the presenters said that people were in the crowd last night texting friends and family saying 'get gown to the 100'.....really? I know it's sky's baby but my god. It's definitely aimed at kids.

I will come back after the actual cricket. So far I'm close to turning off.

I don't think the 50 over world Cup final got as much positive spin😂

Thought that myself too. This BBC coverage is really, really bad.
That little prat with the shiny waxy face I've seen on ITV's horse racing coverage and he ruined that as well.

Just asked some lads if its their 1st time at the hundred, I suppose they might have been at the woman's game last night

I've decided that if they wanted this to be a success then they should have gone all in on the gimmick factors.
All 10 fielders except wicketkeeper to bowl 10 balls each and batting lineups decided by drawing numbers out of a hat.

I play and we do that in friendlies. Why would that be such a bad idea?

Early days, if they stick with it they will need to fine tune it but I suppose the result was in doubt until close to the end. Bit gimmicky but I've watched worse. Some of the presentation is grating but it is simple to watch and doesn't require a huge amount of explanation if you're not familiar with cricket.

Meh, from me.
