Golf

Did you take 2 pairs or trousers in case you got a hole in one..?

I bet that joke still reverberates around the clubhouse 🥳

I'm playing off 16 now, I know I'm better than that it's just the odd mistake that is keeping me there, I'm not very tall and driving the ball on average around 220 - 230 which in golf is not that long but im getting to GIR better with long irons than I ever did. I'm hoping to get down to 10 H/C before next summer. But I love golf more than the football these days.

I'd like to be good at golf but don't seem to have the patience, or maybe the skill required. Played a couple of times over the years but quickly given up. Enjoy watching it on TV.

If you hit them distances straight they are fine. I only hit 220 yd drives but hit mainly straight which gives you a 2nd shot into most par 4's

The top driving pros. Average was 295 at a The Open, with Bryson longest at 320. They’re also playing a longer course than you will be as an amateur golfer.
Based on recent research an amateur male golfer drives the ball 217 yards on average.
Most people massively over exaggerate how far they drive the ball. In my last 20 rounds my smart distance with my driver is 244, biggest hit was 287. Couple of beers in the clubhouse afterwards and I regularly drive the ball 300 yards 😂

220 yards is adequate for an amateur, but you think if you had say another 20-30 yards on that you can hit an iron your comfortable with to a green, I changed how I set up on a drive a few months ago and got better distance, think I'm maxed out at 220-230 yards. Professional golfers hit them over 300 yards now due to tech, fitness etc. Look at the golfers in the 80s to present ones its changed so much.

Happy day today. 2 big mistakes cost me a level par round. Finished +3, 73

love this game!
Well done.

My game is going the other way at the moment. Was down to 6. something about 2 years ago. Now at 9.9. The new handicap system bounced me upwards. Then I have not played that well recently.

I added a Taylor Made M6 7 and 9 fairway woods to the bag recently and much improved the second shot to the green.
