Popstastic cheesy pop songs, love em

E74

I did know about Teenage Kicks been his favourite song, but I did not know the story behind he reacted and the lyrics

I used to listen to him quite a bit from 1977 to 1982 - he would play a casette tape of any band/one/group if he thought it had something of interest, sometimes he played a guy talking away from 20 minutes or so called life in a Scottish sitting Room. Around 1977/8 he would play Punk/New Wave and no one on the BBC really would.

With his Festive Fifty charts of the time (listeners fav songs of the year) Joy Division usually were top. This is what I thought JP would have liked a lot, but Teenage Kicks surprised me and up lifted me, because I liked its simple message, catchy fast beat, and the cry that we can be prisoners to our emotions, at times.

Here we go....

Apparently the story went, he held a party at his house, maybe his 60th not to sure now & either the group, or the brothers were invited, when upon the handed him the lyrics, it goes on he left the room & on his return his eyes were red, through crying, not too sure again

One thing I am sure about though anything to do with the Undertones shouldn't be mentioned in cheesy pop song, my mistake

Bought this on my 10 th birthday, me & my younger brother agreed to buy the record that was No1 on our next birthday, think I drew the short straw, his record was Chickery tip, son of my father
