Rob is not saying we are pitching for Best City, just for it to attain city status.
Middlesbrough is easily the biggest of the Teesside towns and is the only one known outside the area.
The majority of "Stockton's" population is south of the river and no more Stockton than my ****.
It is classic "Teesside' that the only place big enough to have a national name is held back by those other towns opposing.
I suspect "nortonexile" is just such an example.
As for Darlington being the figurehead of the Tees Valley, that is a joke right?
I believe the catalytic impact of city status would be considerable for Middlesbrough and for the Tees Valley.
