Question Time

It would be a bit difficult seeing as people already knew or should have known that Johnson was sacked twice for lying before he was even elected as an MP.
Absolutely. The whole political system seems above many laws and standard employer/employee rules don’t apply. The only seem answerable to themselves as a group. In a modern society, they should have policies and rules that cover this. It is the least the public deserve, whatever stable you support. The rules they operate within are not fit for purpose.

As said before it was take years for the pros/cons of leaving the EU organisation to become fully apparent. I would give it at least another five from now before a full analysis can be made.
absolutely, but it's also important to recognise what is and in't related to the EU, and using the metric system was our choice prior to the EU, if we choose to back to imperial that would be a brexit 'benefit', and by benefit I mean a negative benefit.

I am sure some leavers like some remainers have their trusted sources and believe everything they hear or see from them
can't be bothered to read past that it's just more deflection and lack of honest self analysis. In your head leavers haven't been brainwashed by facebook propaganda (in spite of their being a ton of evidence that that happened) but remainers were (despite there being no evidence), and Vote Leave voted an honest and exemplary campaign (despite being found guilty of the opposite) while Remain were illegally funded and dishonest (despite there being no evidence).

You are a cracking example of the extremist brexiteer, when challenged with good old honest facts you divert. I'll mute you for a few days, as you usually aren't this dishonest and daft, I've got other things to do and this conversation is going down your rabbit hole of deceit and I've got better things to do, gonna go enjoy learning a bit of James Brown on guitar. Have a good weekend.

Extremist brexiteer 😂 so extremist that i called for a confirmatory second referendum, suggested a Norway option as a compromise way forward, agreed team leave told lies etc etc you are just grouping us all together as one when we aren’t, like many i tussled with which way to turn, but now i am dishonest, daft and an extremist to boot, that really takes the biscuit. Enjoy the rest of your day anyways.

Do you think the EU prooosal to avoid the the problems with NI are a good solution? (It's been turned down by Frost.)

I do not know the full extent of all the EU proposals or what Frost is asking for exactly to accurately judge. I personally have no problem aligning with the current EU standards on goods of animal and plant origin which appears one of the biggest issues. The medicine issue that has been offered up by the EU is positive and welcomed. However, on food of animal and plant origin, if we wish to raise our standards in some way, we should be free to do so and vice versa the EU, standards should never drop, however that will result in another issue if either party would not agree to follow suit. There would need an independently agreed mechanism for resolving issues down the line. We should not have a situation where we are somehow bound by EU law nor the EU by UK law, only by agreed treaty.

I do cynically suspect the Government may have backed themselves in a corner with the NI situation on one hand and trade deals they have signed or want to sign on the other and if that is the case, they must put Northern Ireland and the peace treaty first and if that stops a USA trade deal, or any other they need to take the consequences. I understand why the EU have lost trust in the Government, many reasonable people who live here have as well.

There is a solution that the EU have proposed, but it requires regulatory alignment.

I suspect the only real solution to ni is to rejoin the customs union
I suspect that is true but how that then relates with trade deals signed elsewhere, i doubt it possible. There could be an independent treaty that mirrors it somehow that accepts whatever has been agreed to date by either side but then impacts on all parties for the future, No idea whether thats possible it would still need some form of check to avoid goods passing across the border of Ireland either way. It is a mess of the Conservative politicians making. The easiest trade deal in history they said, which was clearly never going to be the case to anyone with a reasonable understanding, but I do accept some brexit supporters were duped by that one.

That is the 'principle' that will scupper any sensible deal with the EU, but we'll give the crown jewels to the USA, India or anyone else.
I often wonder what these people think trade deals are, other than giving up a certain amount of sovereignty for free trade.
Every treaty is an agreement, a contract that compromises a favour for a favour, quid pro quo so agreed governance on the deal must form a part of that said deal. Sovereignty is the right for a state to govern itself. If it agrees a deal whatever the content it has made a sovereign decision, even if that deal agrees to give up an element on who deals with breaches etc. If the will is there on both sides there should be a way to deliver an agreed outcome ie the benefits v no deal. The safety of the people of the whole of Ireland must come equally first.

Everyone from 65-72ish were taught both systems. There is absolutely no way that we will return to imperial, anyone under the age of 40 hasn't been taught it.

We use miles and drink pints, those two are culturally embedded and will stay, but people are pretty comfortable with metres and centimetres more than inches and yards. Just asked my 18 and 15 year olds and they don't have a clue what a yard is, daughter doesn't knows how many inches in a foot but knows her height in feet and inches because of me measuring her. Neither know how many pounds in a stone. These are A**students.

Imperial weights, they will not be re-accepted.

That is your personal perception, and I am of the age where both were taught fairly equally and I can visualise a foot and a metre equally. Imperial isn't better for that, it's just different. The benefit is the concept of decimilised measurements, they are far simpler to use than imperial. Sorry, but it ain't coming back in measurement or weights
'Selling England by the Kg' doesn't quite have the same ring to it though.
