Positive cases were 5,765 (3,398 on corresponding day last week).

13 deaths were reported today (7 on corresponding day last week).

152,183 deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate (up to 21 May)

40,124,229 have had a first dose vaccination. 174,535 first dose vaccinations yesterday. 27,160,635 have had a second dose. 360,691 second dose vaccinations today.

• 5,765 new cases reported in 24-hour period, down from yesterday's 6,238
• 7-day average for new cases increases by 8.2% to 4,485 per day, following 7.6% increase yesterday (and 18th consecutive daily increase)

Great vaccination figures again.
I've managed to bring forward my 2nd dose by one week and I would recommend that anybody entitled to do so should do the same.

But of an uplift in recent days, but nothing too dramatic.
Yeah it all looks good. This is what I’m hoping for, proof that cases doesn’t mean hospitalisations. Because cases are going to go up no. Restrictions are way looser than April so bound to have an effect. As long as the vaccines counteract it
 
The reality is we are on a wing and a prayer just now that the vaccine will suppress the virus enough to keep people out of hospital.

Let’s hope it does.
