New Labour started the Breakup of the UK

The Conservatives had no MPs left in Scotland in 1997 and Labour was committed to devolution after participation in the Scottish Constitutional Convention with the Liberal Democrats and civic groups.

After a referendum gave 74% support, Scotland was given a Parliament with devolved powers to make legislation on most domestic areas of policy

So LABOUR started the break-up of the United Kingdom - well done Labour (y)

Devolution is one of the best things to happen in British politics in years, a more democratic system that has given people control of their own futures, the recognition for the need for change and that’s without the massive part it played in the peace process in Northern Ireland. The idea of devolution was to give more autonomy beyond Westminster, funnily enough under Labour, Scotland, Wales and NI were all happy to remain as part of the U.K., it’s like trying to blame the Wright Brothers for 9/11

The separation is already in motion, it will be forever in the history books that the divisive Johnson Tory government failed to hold the U.K. together.

I wonder what lies he is trying to tell the Queen about it - I would love to be a fly on the wall!

By that reasoning, surely Cons have started the process towards Teesside independence (y)

Surely Cameron failed to hold it together? - If anyone is to blame he granted them a Ref

Why doesn't England have Devolution then? One can say that Brexit is an English-lead movement, so perhaps English devolution may stopped Brexit from happening?

No, Brexit has been the game changer which has allowed Sturgeon to legitimately want a new referendum to update the 2014 vote.

Johnson has been instrumental in forcing Brexit through so he is ultimately responsible.

He is also naturally a ‘win lose’ politician so does not have the skills to bring people together and promote unity.

It‘s a tragedy for the U.K. but the separation of Scotland is now just a matter of time.

We were offered it in 2004 but voted against, it was Dominic Cummings first foray into campaigning he was strategic adviser on the NESNO campaign, for someone with such strong opinions on politics I would have expected a little more basic background knowledge on the subject.
