Freeports are pointless and being used as a political tool. I can't be arsed linking the detailed information I've already posted though.
I would like posters to see the pro's as well as the con's and although I despise what the Tories are doing to us, I am over the moon that we have been issued a free port status and what it could possibly do for this area. Ask the people of Newcastle or Sunderland if they would like to swap it with us.So what? You'd prefer these same posters that keep pointing out the shortcomings to join others with their heads in the sand? To nod along with the rhetoric? Critically analyzing and objectively scrutinizing these outlandish claims is not the same as wanting the country to fail. In fact it's the opposite if anything. Blindly agreeing that the unicorns are going to turn up any minute is doing far more damage than any critical analysis ever can.
No it doesn't. It will not produce the benefits claimed.
Would they happen Freeport or not?I would like posters to see the pro's as well as the con's and although I despise what the Tories are doing to us, I am over the moon that we have been issued a free port status and what it could possibly do for this area. Houchen's talked of it creating 18,000 jobs in the future, obviously this is bull but the jobs that GE Renewable Energy will create aren't and are a lot better than what we have at the moment - would you not agree on that.

There are none. Much like there are no pros to Brexit either. I always try to look for positives. I am desperate fro them. But I am not going to nod along blindly when what I read is nonsense.I would like posters to see the pro's as well as the con's
What about the jobs I mentioned? That's where I'm at CS.

The lands been cleared for them as we speak. They haven't been created yet and the GE decision has precisely nothing to do with Brexit or Freeport status and certainly nothing whatsoever to do with Houchen.

I give up, I honestly thought you were better than that. And your point is?
I give up, I honestly thought you were better than that.
I am still waiting for the alternative ways of leveling up the left behind deindustralised regions like Teesside, if Freeport with additional tax incentives are definitely completely useless. I am open to new ideas - I like to know alternative ideas?
The average person on Teesside whats some levelling up and they are not politcial tied to one party.
Don’t think you’ll find many threads started by me about brexit failings etcSmalltown/Adi - My statement maybe is OTT regarding wanting to see the country fail but you have got to agree though that it is the same old posters who point out the short comings of Brexit, etc.
I personally don't think it will be a white elephant on Teesside and companies would be foolish not to take advantage of the tax relief they can gain. Things are starting to take off down there now with the announcement of the wind farm and carbon capture plants.

In your opinion is there an alternative? It’s an illegitimate question. The validity of Pointing out the reality of Freeports can’t be contingent on providing an alternative.
I wouldn't disagree with that dood. My point is, I guess, is people condeming it, which is fine if you already have a job. Feeding your family takes precedence over political posturing.I'm sure we all hope the Freeport sees an economic upturn for the area, but you can't forget that the reason we need it is that we've been victims of Tory policy for decades.
Pointing out that once again, the government have been withholding pertinent details about things is hardly wrong now is it? If you bought something and then the manufacturer said "oh, by the way..." and changed the terms and conditions then you'd be a bit peeved.
Playing fast and loose with the truth is a very bad habit to have and it will come back and bite them eventually, the question is how much damage is done by the time it happens.
Your first sentence doesn't make any sense. And you second sentence is false. He doesn't answer my question at allIt doesn't matter to you because you are happy whinging on about Brexit.
Redwurzel answered the rest of your post in a more eloquent way that I could.
I doubt very, very few would condemn it simply because its a Tory thing, same as the vaccine rollout, but I guess I'm growing ever more tired of being drip fed the truth in an effort to wear down the resistance. I'd much rather we got the facts and it was able to be debated in parliament and problems ironed out. This government is making it neigh on impossible to mount any form of opposition, not that Labour are doing much with the opportunities they do have.I wouldn't disagree with that dood.
