Karanka just tweeted this

I liked AK I liked his passion, his thoroughness, his hard work, how he found some overseas diamonds. With hindsight I probably over estimated his abilities and over looked his faults, but what a ride we had from 2014 to 2016, - we were tough to beat.
I think AK probably overestimated his abilities as well when he ripped apart the promotion team once we were promoted. I think we needed to build upon the team of players, rather than thinking that the promotion was mostly about the AK tactics and that we could simply swap-in 'better' players.

I do have to also provide the counterargument that we were doing very well up until Christmas. That Ramirez episode just seemed to destroy everything, and once free-fall starts, it is hard to stop. The problem is we self-imploded and Karanka was at the heart of it. Bust ups, galore. He had to go, but in doing so the rift in the camp wasn't healed. We then needed a strong manager to come in from the outside.

In other words, it was that dreadful home kit that relegated us.

I loved Karanka, loved going to games fully expecting to not only win but to control the game.

Definitely not felt like that since, games have been a coin toss in the main.

Definitely a bit of self promotion about this tweet but why not, worth reminding people that it wasn't too long ago that he was a hot managerial property.

Agreed.
I've made the point before that I think the signing of Ramirez got us promoted, he added that spark that turned draws into wins and got us over the line.

Losing Ramirez mentally & then Karanka losing the plot & dressing room meant we couldn't even turn defeats into draws in the Prem.

When Karanka was sacked it was like a mercy killing.
