The 9am figures not disclosed yet?

Given the amount of testing I am amazed that infection rates are still falling.

It's pretty safe to say at this point that it will be 95% false positives, we're probably at 0 deaths most days now, yet weirdly life is not back to normal. Life's never going back to normal is it?

P.s. By normal I mean people having the choice to live like it's 2019.. I don't give two boots about people working from home etc, that's theirs and their businesses choice.

Thats probably very true Alvez, if we used the same test to test for bubonic plague there would be some background noise too. The fact that the figures are still falling though means it's not all background noise.

Not sure on the number of deaths each day, it will be very low though. Johnson has to renew the emergency covid bill before June. Is any one surprised that all regulations are due to be lifted in June? Coincidence? Nah. By the end of May Johnson will be asking for a 6 month extension on the covid bill to allow the tories to keep stealing for a further 6 months.

Lateral flow tests are about 80% of all tests but only 25% of the positives are lateral flow. The concern continues to be false negatives with lateral flow.
ONS said on Friday from their sampling cases had fallen 40% in a week which hopefully means its hit a wall and ran out of steam

Is there any figures for the veracity of lateral flow tests bear? They seem to be rubbish and only maybe add value to give a very general idea of infection rates, which, if you are using them for decision making, is fraught with risk.

There are two figures given for lateral flow positives: lateral flow only and lateral flow confirmed by PCR within 72 hours. Unfortunately there are no published figures for the proportion of positive lateral flows turning out to be negative. The data must exist but I haven't found it.

The ONS are continuing to say the PCR specificity is greater than 99.92% (not many false positives) and 95% efficacy (more false negatives).

The ONS weekly antigen reports are showing about 1 in 1000 with the virus; that's about three times the number of daily tests being reported assuming the virus is traceable for two weeks.

I really don’t see it being extended, there’s nothing left to back it up and people will not stand for it. There’d be uproar across the board if things are fully lifted and back to normal on June 21st.

It doesn't even need to go through parliament, interestingly enough. Johnson will, probably, ask for paliamentary approval. You and I have little or no say in this El Guapo. I am not sure if there would be support in parliament for this, but Johnson will try. It's the legislation that allows the whole sale theft that has gone on
for over a year.

Didn’t realise it didn’t have to go through Parliament. I reckon the business community would kick off though? I guess we’ll see. 👍

There is a clause in the bill around the sunset that says any crown appointed officer can extend the legislation. Johnson is appointed by the crown. I think you are right that there would be an outcry. Bare in mind that the extension of the bill doesn't impact how locked down we are, it only impacts Johnson's ability to impose another lockdown without parliamentary approval.. He will tell his backbenchers he wont lock down again, and probably get them to vote for it.

It's a horrible bill that gives far reaching powers and it should never have been allowed to go through parliament in it's current state. I argued against it at the time and was shouted down on here. It upset me greatly ;)

There'll be too much pressure from Tory MPs. I'm happy to maintain sensible precautions on my own part. If the data is good then we should move towards personal responsibility.

Of course we should. I was for lock down, they should have happened much sooner and lasted for shorterr periods. You're preaching to the choir BoroFur

After June 21st I'm done with it all.

The mail even reporting he may surprise us on the 17th May by "letting" us hug family and friends 🤣

I love Alvez and his wild statements. 0 deaths a day. Come now

I'm glad you're done with it all. Viruses don't affect people having a strop!
I could give zero **** what you think ST 😎.
It isn't a strop either, it's going to be backed up by SAGE and the JCVI. 🧑‍🦰

All of the country will almost certainly of had at least one shot of vaccine by then, including myself, if you want to stay scared than that's your choice, I'll get back to living life not seen since 2019

By scared you mean not spreading a disease.
