Would you be in favour of COVID passports to get back in the Riverside?

No, never going to completely take away the risk, but regular testing is a very cheap, easy and effective way to track and stop the spread. Only suggested 2/3 days because its what is currently suggested by other industries, but again it could be on the morning of attending an event. The more people test, the easier it is to stop transmission
Don't you see the issue with testing two or three days before an event or going to work or whatever? The test is only relevant for the time you've taken it.

Yes absolutely, but its not feasible to expect people to isolate after the test before an event. Its never going to be anywhere near 100% effective unless we test ourselves 10 times a day, which again just isnt possible. Personally I think everyone should be testing themselves twice weekly, its a very cheap and effective way to track outbreaks and stop them progressing.

A test a few days before going into a football stadium isnt going to 100% rule out the chances of you having covid and spreading it, but its significantly better than no test.

By this logic, do you advocate doing away with workplace testing, testing in schools and colleges?

If you are going to do it then surely it needs doing every day?

You could be really careful and do it twice a day, once before you leave the house and a second time before you return home from work it school. Money is no object when it comes to testing it seems. Bear in mind the government's wish that everybody in the country tests themselves twice a week somebody somewhere is going to get very rich very quickly.
£10 for two tests multiplied by let's say 50 million to account for people who won't get tested or can't.
That's £500,000,000 just for the UK alone. Plus the added contribution to climate change with the destruction of the plastic tests once they've been processed.

Do it every day or don't bother.

Pretty pointless if people will be mixing in pubs and eateries before match. Also as mention it would only be fair when everyone has had the vaccine at which point it will be a waste of time.

Is it relatively cheap. Tell that to the people who were paying money before and coming back from holidays earlier on in pandemic.

The government are offering them to people for free so it should have no personal cost. Clearly not going to be cheap for the government to push the tests out but again its more expensive to stay under further restrictions which hopefully this would prevent

No a passport simply won't work.... you can still pass on covid even by having the vaccine

A covid test is only applicable for that day... well you may be a-symptomatic or you may not show symptoms until days/weeks later - so you could be covid-free on the day of the test, but really you may already be infected

It's not going to work in reality

I wonder why some people think that it's either covid passports or restrictions?

It's like they're are no other options available.

We are spending billions on test track and trace. Last year as restrictions were lifted there was no vaccinations.

This year almost all the vulnerable have been vaccinated yet people are happy to introduce even more restrictions than we had during summer last year.

It baffles me a bit.

And look at how quickly we ended up back under restrictions which we have now been living under for 6 months. Opening up too soon and ending up back under these restrictions again will be a disaster, need to do everything possible to avoid that.

So you don't want to consider what got us back under restrictions. Could it be the wasted test and track implementation? Could it be EOTHO? Could it be no one was vaccinated last year?

The assumption that the NHS is going to be overwhelmed again has no imperical evidence at the minute to support it. What about the government publishing that data, if they have even bothered to model this?

Everyone seems to be happy to hand over their risk management to an incompetent government, it truly does baffle me.

It really isn’t that baffling if you know the real
agenda behind these so called vaccination passes

I am not baffled that the government are sounding the public out about it, I am baffled that people are willing to hand over their risk management to the government. A government I might add, that put profit before life. This has never happened in my lifetime and I am trully astounded people would even consider Johnson as a suitable person to manage their wellbeing, never mind be buying in to the nonsense.

How does anyone prove they've taken a test 2/3 days before or even on the day of an event?

Do you just take someone at there word that they have taken a test and got a negative result?

That's workable because no one's going to say they have when they haven't are they.......................................

would require some kind of application that allows you to register a test kit, then produce either a print out with a barcode, or a barcode on your phone screen via an app.

I don't understand this idea that if something doesn't work with 100% effectiveness then don't bother at all.
exactly, waiting for something to be perfect means you get zero benefit today, and you will be waiting forever for the perfect solution. No service based business operates like this anymore. Not one. In fact most businesses will push the boundary of failure on a regular basis to get feed back for improvements.
