Wyke, Reach and Jones?!

they are all championship players so the only thing to attract would be high wages and we don’t do that anymore.

championship wages are diff levels you can be a Bournemouth 10 goal a season striker on 65k or young Coventry midfielder on 8k. Worlds apart. Sign them young and they are likely on low wages. Sign them from a side promoted from League One and they'll be on low wages. According to the site I use, Hamer is on 6.5K and O'Hare on 10k and are first and third highest paid players for Coventry. Between them they earn the same as 12 other players, so Coventry would look to get them off the books if a good offer comes in.

I like Gustavo Hamer and Mark Yates , but they would command decent fees around £2m Each I would have thought , plus improved wages , so the overall package is maybe a bit much under the current climate . I would like to think not and sign both as a new midfield partnership , but can’t see it happening unless we sell Tav / Fry .
even then , Bannan , Bacuna and Mowatt would come cheaper .

It's not the only thing is it?

Chance to play for a side with a genuine chance for promotion (up to us to convince them of that), status of playing for a bigger club (bigger ground, outstanding training facilities, 'feels' more like a premier League club) and of course erm Parmos 😏.

There's loads of reasons we can attract players from other championship teams without having to throw loads of money at them, particularly bottom half sides. There are some very good players playing for those teams.

Of course it's harder because if another club wants to offer them a daft contract, not much you can do about it. But given the pandemic that should be less of an issue. Most of the players people are suggesting would jump at the chance to come, even without a big pay bump.

The problem is when there are rivals for the player. But even then, as we've seen with Derby for example, blowing other clubs out the water on wages can be a double edged sword. Sometimes I don't mind losing out when another club is clearly paying well over the odds. Let them gamble. Only 3 promotion spots and it can go wrong quickly if you take the gamble and don't get one.
