Hospitality Fights Back

Can hardly believe I'm typing this but everything he's put is spot on.

Sir Ed added: "In the last recession the Government bailed out the banks, now it's only right we bail out our pubs.

"They are drowning in debt, driven by rent costs they have no hope of meeting, and the Government’s offer to them has been pitiful."

In other news Sascha Lord and his legal team are back in the courts on Monday morning after the government failed to give them any viable reason as to why non essential shops are fine to open fully on April 12th and hospitality and tourism isn't

Why are you allowed to sit in a Costa coffee in a service station and eat and drink but not anywhere else?

A very good question. All the services seating appeared open when I passed through the other day. Wondered whether the "official shops seating" was all closed off so therefore only takeaways were on offer while the services more generally had seating available.

A loophole if ever there was one.

There's no evidence for any of it @Randy a year in and they have no correlation for any of it.
Florida and Texas Vs California and new York and I immediately accept that there's differences between the States but the point being there is NO evidence that anything that any of us have been subject to the past year has a benefit. You'd hope that we'd have some pretty solid evidence by now given the massive cost we've paid and will be paying for many years.

Every lockdown has had provided a reduction in cases
But hospitality is being treat unfair, considering the measures they put in place for July last year and how covid safe they are

So why have the numbers significantly decreased around the times lockdown was introduced?
Not exactly groundbreaking that the transmission of a virus will decrease when person to person contact is reduced.
Unsurprising that people have gone so quiet about the Sweden example over the last few months, no lockdowns haven’t exactly worked out well for them

1) Sweden is absolutely fine what are you on about?

2) repeat after me correlation=/=causation

3) Most transmission is in the home, not elsewhere. That is proven.

Look at their death rate compared to neighbouring countries, and then tell me if it’s fine

Of course it is, because people hadn’t been able to go anywhere else for 9 of the last 12 months but their home, wouldn’t expect much transmission in pubs if they’ve been closed the majority of the year would you?

See tweet above your post. Or is it willfully ignored?

I'll be interested to see what evidence Hancock gives Judge Swift on Tuesday morning. Bearing in mind the only evidence government have shown the courts so far was a study of a nightclub in South Korea during the opening weeks of the pandemic. 😉

Why would you compare Sweden to anyone else? I literally made the point above, if you want to do the comparison game, Texas Vs California, Florida Vs NYC. It doesn't make sense to do it. Sweden is absolutely fine right now and has been all last year people died like they do every year and that is sad and those people were mourned and life was lived, tale as old as time.

And of course it is because that's how transmission works, someone goes to work, goes out and brings it into a house. Same way it's worked every year ever.

You're absolutely terrified of normality, I'm sorry you feel that way.

Just pointing out they have a significant death rate, some people have made the point many times that they didnt lockdown and everything was fine, this clearly isnt the case and they have suffered many needless deaths. If the UK had continued without these lockdowns it would have been absolutely devastating for thousands.

Seems like a good idea to stop people going to work, or going out and bringing home covid, thus infecting their full household during a pandemic doesnt it? Would have thought thats common sense

What is this nonsense about fear of normality? You've accused me of it and now someone else. Could it be down to your own lack of ability to manage self discipline or your lack of regard for social and community well-being, or possibly both?

It seems to be lost on you that some people are in favour of certain restrictions and guidance in order to return to normality, but you somehow interpret that as fear of it. That view makes absolutely zero sense and I'm sorry you clearly feel that way, you've got some very unhappy and, as your posts suggest, angry times ahead

Oh don't get me wrong Artie me old mucka, I'm fully aware that normality in terms of 2019 isn't coming back anytime soon and you're right that does make me sad but I am well into acceptance.

I'd actually argue I care about community and that's why I'd want it back because obviously right now things are as bad as they've been for a very very long time socially, culturally, civil liberties and economically. If you look at my posts they were about the lack of evidence and the cost of lockdowns, I'm fully aware some people are in favour of restrictions.

My point about his fear of normality is based on his posts and yours. You've had two shots, you're old I get you're scared, it's that there is no evidence for the restrictions not that I don't care.
