Just drove past a packed Preston Park

Its ridiculous isnt it, all the well I'm alright jack sat in my garden feeling holier than thou. We went to preston park this morning was busy but everyone kept their distance and moved aside on the paths. Was lovely a walk with the family and people seemed happy.

We dont have a garden should we just stick our heads out the window??
Yep. We've only got a paved back yard at my house. 10 metres by 2 metres.

"Go on kids do run some lengths of the yard, it's south facing so at least you'll be warm".

Kids are at the grandparents tonight ase and the missus are both at work. When I pick them up tomorrow I'll be taking them up the grassy hills of Great Ayton for our usual walk.

Of all the Middlesbrough parks, the one in the most built up area and the one which attracted all the attention during the first lockdown was Albert Park and yet I have never ever seen it packed in the past year.

Some people are ****.. However the vast majority of the population have made huge sacrifices to protect older people. Young kids have lost a year out of their lives. People have lost livelihoods. All because of a disease that doesn't affect them.

This board is full of older people in big houses, who should be showing gratitude at the sacrifices people have made to protect them, rather than moaning.
Yes it's easy to overlook the fact that some folk don't have access to open outdoor space at home.
When children are involved that must be particularly binding.
As long as people keep it 'local' I've no issues but driving 20 or 30 miles to beauty spots is not on in my book.
I do take slight offence with your comments that older people should be grateful for the sacrifices made to protect them. Unless you're involved in criminality then being old and owning a big house with a garden must prove that you've done something right in your life.
I'm grateful to the ladies and gentlemen of the NHS and social care fraternity, to shop workers and delivery drivers.
But I won't be told to be grateful to somebody just because they're younger than me.
I may be 'older' but I've gone out to work every day over the last 12 months while others have sat on their arses at home on full pay so perhaps the 'younger' folk should be grateful to me for keeping the economy going?

Brilliant to see isn't it, people finally reclaiming their lives despite the non stop misery piled on by the MSM. Hancock already talking about tiers in June despite a vaccine. This only ends when we say it ends.

Christ almighty will you all stop this pathetic bickering.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but you’re allowed to go to the local park or beach to exercise ?

if you keep your distance it isn’t a problem

Can we please just stop it. And all the holier than thou stuff, and justifying it by saying people are dying. You aren’t gonna kill someone by going for a socially distanced walk on Redcar beach.

Roseberry Topping- absolutely rammed with an almost continuous train of people going up/coming down as I drove past this afternoon.
Whitby was very quiet.
I also had my pork and stuffing sandwich nicked off me by a seagull. £3.70 and all I got was one bite of a bread roll!
And before people jump down my throat accusing me of breaking the rules- I wasn't. I have an exemption due to being a foster carer and the foster kids are allowed to visit my daughter in Whitby. (They regard my daughter as their big sister)

A 23 year old. At very little risk from covid. Living in a tiny flat on his own. Loses his job. Spends a year in complete solitude. I think we should be very grateful. I think we have too much negativity and too much blame and not enough recognition of people who are doing the right thing.

Exactly AET, hope you're OK matey and keeping strong

Good, people should be outside. Expecting people to stay in for all of this time will cause significant mental and physical problems in the future. Considering transmission is minimal at worst outdoors, the government should have been pushing people to get out from the start, would have increased compliance and reduced how many were meeting indoors.
people going to a park really shouldn’t be the focus of anyone’s anger.

I get so fed up at people moaning about packed parks, packed beaches, beauty spots etc. The papers don’t help with their pictures deliberately taken at low angles. We should be respectful and remember not everyone in urban towns has gardens. I see nothing wrong with driving to a local park or beach for a walk as long as you keep your distance.

but no, it’s far easier to have a pop isn’t it

I could go on about the mental health aspect of getting outside as well but I’d just sound like a broken record

There goes a man that speaks sense.

Justifying everything by saying someone I know died is nothing short of ridiculous. Yes it's personal to you but I'm sure it isn't the first person you have known die.

Live and let live. If there is a problem trust that the authorities will deal with it.

No one is saying people shouldn’t be outside, but people driving to be somewhere with thousands of other people is not on. We’ve coped with walking to the local shop or around the block for the last 11 months, so it is possible to stay local and get some fresh air and a change of scenery. It’s not difficul.

Nice to see you back on the board mate. I totally agree with you. Take care and keep safe.

I went to a park today, and drove there. The nearest park to us is probably about 2 miles walk but my girlfriend has a condition that makes walking that distance almost impossible. We also have no front or back garden.
I’d been reluctant previously trying to keep local, but with the nice weather and having done pretty much nothing for months now we went.

That’s an extreme example I know, but you can see why people are going to parks/beaches and it’s not something to get angry about.

Not sure anyone is angry, just people pointing out how stupid and selfish SOME people are being.

Does this include Boris driving or being driven 7 miles for a bike ride. Does that make driving 7 miles ok? or maybe even a little bit further? Just asking for a friend like.

Everyone’s circumstances are different though, if you have kids I’d imagine trying to keep them happy with the same walk around the block for 11 months isn’t really an option. Again people could live in areas where it’s possibly not safe or suitable to walk in their local area, a short drive to a beach or park really isn’t a problem.

A quick walk everyday as your exercise really isn’t enough for most people though, I know if I had just stuck to walking around the block once a day for the last year, I would be massively overweight by now, which would cause me problems if I was to then get Covid.

We should be doing everything possible to stop people meeting indoors, and the only way to do this is to give more freedoms to get outdoors.

.

I’m really sorry I’ve got my own house with a garden but trust me I worked for it and never received a penny off anyone ( much the same as most of my mates ) . My first house was a street house in the Boro which I know for a fact ‘ young’ people would scorn at . My first car had a hand painted wing with a choke . Most young people I know now have cars less than two year old ) . What I would add replying to one comment “ try living in a tiny flat with two kids “ my generation wouldn’t be reckless enough to bring two kids into that world , it’s called common sense .

‘ My ‘ generation also observe what is called discipline which we’ve abided by since childhood and if we see a nice open space , we don’t jump into it because others have . It’s very indicative of being the ‘ they’ve got it why can’t I ‘ generation ( same as kids in a tiny flat ) .
Are you really saying people who have 2 children in a flat are reckless?
