The 9am figures not disclosed yet?

Some much better figures recently but what's happening with the
vaccinations. The last couple of days have seen numbers less than half some of the days previously.

As of 9am on 24 February, 4,144,557 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK.

Positive cases were 9,938.

442 deaths were reported today

135,613 deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate (up to 12 February)

18,242,873 have had a first dose vaccination. 326,692 first dose vaccinations yesterday.
The best bit about that is deaths down 41% WoW. If there's no delayed reporting involved, that's a fantastic indicator of the effect of the vaccine on deaths.

I think it's 31% Jostler but great news nevertheless (y)
The CovidUK Stats Twitter says 738 deaths last Wed (40.1% - I did a rough calc ) but I've seen another figure of 583 (31%) so not sure without double-checking. Draw?

Edit - 7 day average is down 31% WoW, mine was singular day.

But yep great news!

I use the GOV.UK Covid-19 Dashboard Jostler, it's really informative.

Monday may have been the last day over 10k cases and yesterday the last over 500 deaths, and still coming down quick.

What is good is that there's nothing new in this thread now, just steady, quick and repeatable declines, it's a very good sign.

I'm in a good mood today, despite the football and cricket scores. I got way more work done than hoped for at the start of the day, had a delicious lunch and the weather has been pretty nice down here today. It's going to have to take more than that

Government have to be congratulated on actually getting something right with the vaccine. Looks to have had an impact on deaths

To be honest, I think the even better news is that the vaccine has probably only had a relatively small impact on the fall in deaths so far.

The majority of deaths being reported now will have been as a result of infections from around 3 weeks ago. The vaccine takes 3 weeks to give the expected level of immunity, meaning people would have to have been vaccinated at least 6 weeks ago for this to be a significant factor in current death reduction. 6 weeks ago, we had only vaccinated 2.6m out of the 15m people in the top four priority groups.

Therefore, assuming that the vaccines do indeed have the dramatic impact that we are all expecting, there should be an even sharper fall off in the death numbers in coming weeks.

Good lad Billy.

Excellent news hopefully with this prediction.
