Think it will be interesting to see where Britt ends up. It's quite funny when we're on sky or get to listen to opposition radio commentary the way they talk about Britt as this deadly centre forward. Wonder if other clubs actually see him this way?
Be good to get Johnson signed up, good squad player and been unlucky to lose his place.
I wouldnt offer Britt a contract at all, for however little, he's taking up a space in the squad that could and should be used for a better striker
Britt should have triggered a 6 month less clause
Jokes aside absolutely no way Britt stays on his wages. I think we'd struggle to offer him a new deal if he'd got 20 goals. The fact NW said his agent deserved a pat on the back suggests even he thought his wage is ridiculous.
I think Johnson has fully deserved another year (That's if he wants it). He's been superb this season and does a job out wide or as a wingback. I also commend him on last season where he chose to play without a deal when others sacked it off
It does sound as though Johnson has had a bit of a face on about losing his place. That's definitely not a bad thing. He's probably been a bit hard done by as his performances have been decent. He's actually looked pretty bright in the last 2 sub appearances.
It’s a shocker on the financial side, but if Britt cost only 5 -7m I think he’d be highly regarded by most of our fans. It’s just the crazy fee (and no doubt wages) that put fans on his back. Me personally I have no issues with Britt and think he has been a good servant who has never slagged the club off. Lazy at times but then most strikers can be at this level. It’s Monk and whoever was involved with spending the money who want chastising.Time to wash our hands with Britt, don't think he's as bad as people make out but he is no where near justifying what he will be on, and I doubt he will be willing to accept a reduced contract in the summer either. Another shocker from our recruitment team.
Exactly, Fletcher has also done nothing to justify his price but doesnt get anywhere near the same criticism. Akpom isnt even league one standard yet he escapes with far less criticism than Britt. I still think he would have been a good player at this level if we had used him correctly, he has just been unfortunate with the managers he has played under here, which has essentially ruined his career. It’s a shocker on the financial side, but if Britt cost only 5 -7m I think he’d be highly regarded by most of our fans. I doubt he will get half of what he has been on, regardless where he goes nextBritt certainly hasn't done enough to warrant an extra pay day. I can't imagine he's on peanuts neither, so even if we do offer him a contract, he'll have to take a huge pay cut....saying that, I can't imagine many teams out there giving him a contract similar to what he's on now.
Hardly his fault for being offered such a lucrative contract.
To spend £15m on a striker with big wages and then for him to leave for F**k all is shocking. 4 years after Monk, and we're still paying for those mistakes.
Price tag isn't anything to do with him, that was a a failure of the club to do due diligence and understand that Monk had nearly signed Fletcher 6 months earlier for less than half what we paid.Exactly, Fletcher has also done nothing to justify his price but doesnt get anywhere near the same criticism. Fletcher for 7.5m you’d say he still has time to justify that price tag as he’s only 25 and hopefully the best is yet to come. He’s definitely taken over the first choice position.Exactly, Fletcher has also done nothing to justify his price but doesnt get anywhere near the same criticism. I actually think there is a very decent player in there with Fletcher and hope he does stay beyond this season. When he first joined he was still young and had the expectation a big price tag brings with it and it didn't work out. However, the last couple of seasons he has looked much better and especially since Warnock came has improved a lot. I honestly think that if he hadn't been injured for so long there's a strong chance he'd have been our main striker and we'd have gained enough extra points to be in the play off positions.Price tag isn't anything to do with him, that was a a failure of the club to do due diligence and understand that Monk had nearly signed Fletcher 6 months earlier for less than half what we paid.
Wages, Fletcher is on less than half what Britt is earning. Fletcher was poor the first 2 years, but has looked a decent player the last 2, he's way better than Britt.
I'd say if he cost 2-4 mill yes, like Akpom. Akpom can play a little but doesn't look like scoring, Britt can't play but will score a few. They're similar ability levels. I don't think about the price tag after a standard Britt performance, I just think how anyone could think he is a championship footballer. It’s a shocker on the financial side, but if Britt cost only 5 -7m I think he’d be highly regarded by most of our fans.
