Hancock acted unlawfully in giving Tory cronies contracts

This is a good article about cronyism-
Yes the UK is sinking into a kakocracy at a rapid rate. Tories have always been institutionally corrupt but once upon a scandal if found with their hands in the till or trousers around their ankles they had to resign. Now, corruption in plain sight every day - and nothing. If the likes of Hamilton, Aitken or Profumo had been caught now the would just carry on with a nod and a wink from the party big-wigs.

Hardly unsubstantiated - the facts are there, just that the Government has not addressed them.
We are told that the GLP are bringing some more cases to court so I prefer awaiting those and having them tested in court not on this board which is hardly balanced

I really don't think it's a question of being balanced (or by contrast, biased) to put forward the view that it's fundamentally wrong to hand multi-million pound contracts to totally unqualified firms that just happen to belong to your mates and/or political donors and even more so when some of them then deliver PPE which is either unusable or not in the amounts that were promised.

Even the government's own auditors:
found that “suppliers with links to politicians were ten times more likely to be awarded contracts than those who applied to the Department of Health."
Ministers awarded contracts worth billions to political cronies

Do you not think people like @Hicktonpen10 are part of the problem? He'll defend cronyism and corruption and you have to wonder why? Maybe he has some skin in the game, or maybe he's ignorant of the facts? If it's the latter how do we educate them?

This coming from the fella who voted for them?
The irony.
He really does talk utter rubbish on many topics particularly Brexit, Vaccines and now this. I am a bit old fashioned in that I like to consider the evidence myself rather than joining the herd. I have not yet seen any evidence of corruption in either the JR decision from last week or the NAO report from November. NAO report says several times no evidence of Ministers being involved in the procurement decisions or their management thereafter. If the GLP litigation finds corruption or cronyism I will call it out.

Piers Morgan rightly called him out and gave him a good kicking. Hancock will not care as his bank account will have swelled during this pandemic I would have thought, what with all his cronies winning contracts through their expertise in these areas. I mean who, in the midst of a national crisis, urgently needing NHS supplies, wouldn’t have turned to their local pub landlord to bail them out to supply much needed vials for the NHS despite no previous experience in this field.

Because they " got brexit done" anything else is just sour grapes from the remoaners
It's a really sad state of affairs. I really wish we taught politics in school. There would still be the @Hicktonpen10 s of this world but hopefully they would be fewer as more people would understand what was going on.

Matt Hancock always tries to come over all 'aww shucks, I'm an ordinary man dealing with an extraordinary situation' but when he's challenged the mask slips and his shtick drops to give way to quite a nasty side.

Why the personal attacks on @Hicktonpen10 ?
Because of the way he’s acting here. I’m very suspicious of someone who wants to deflect and ignore corruption. It means he’s either a really nasty person and deserves it or he doesn’t quite understand that it’s his taxes, his money that is being used to fuel the corruption which is why I said he needs educating.

Hancock broke the law. Hancock goes on National TV and refuses to apologise. Hancock denied there had been any contact between himself and his mate and then has to admit that there had been. Nothing to see here, clearly!!!!

The fact that he was a mate, had no experience in what the contract was for, that other experienced suppliers were bypassed and he had to borrow land from his dad to set up the factory - and which is now being investigated for breaking basic hygiene rules, looks like corruption to me.

You do not need to be an expert in politics or how governments are meant to work to see this is a bit wiffy. Every working person in the country should be aware that this is their money. Hickton, you may think Hancock’s actikns could be reasonable but I want a full investigation into how MY money has been spent.

This is the man yesterday crying that he was being bullied by @Alvez_48 over his terrible one shoe analogy and here he is attacking @Hicktonpen10 consistently. He has already stated that he will wait for the findings of the GLP case against the government. This case ruling does not state the government handed out dodgy contracts and anyone suggesting otherwise is incorrect.

He is not ignoring corruption as it has not been proved there is any and has simply stated he will wait for the evidence. Perfectly reasonable. ST suggesting there is corruption as a fact is the one who is incorrect and using it to attack another poster. Again something he doesn't like and claims is being bullied if happens to him

Thanks for the support Cooper. ST really cannot deal with someone having a contrary view to him. He fires off nonsense without engaging brain. Just thinking would hate to see him on a jury as his ignorance of the rules of evidence is frightening. Never mind beyond reasonable doubt or balance of probability if its in the papers or on this board then its proven. Have to say the one shoe analogy cracks me up.

You can absolutely have a contrary view to me. If that contrary view is being happy with government corruption and prepared to defend it however. Then I have every right to criticise this. Any right minded person would.

The sheer audacity of Matt Hancock to sit there and say we should be thanking him and his team in the face of 130,000 deaths, a team which ensured that we never had a shortage of PPE and acted in the national interest in not disclosing contacts.

The gaslighting and rewriting of history has reached alarming levels.

I have never and will never defend corruption of any kind. If I have missed something that proves corruption then I apologise but the NAO report that I have read in full makes it clear that Ministers acted appropriately by declaring possible conflicts, not being involved in awarding contracts or in their subsequent management. Can we just leave the personal attacks alone as we don't know each other and I would never presume to know or care about your character.
