Starmer should tell the teachers to strike

My view would be it’s because Labour are not offering up an alternative vision - what is their manifesto - what would they do if they got in charge - I don’t think anybody knows, I don’t even think they know. All they seem capable of is attacking and criticising the current gvt at every turn but at some point they need tell us what they are about if they are to have any chance of getting into power.
I would agree with you if there was an election coming up but there are years to go yet and, let’s be honest, everybody knows what sort of government Labour would be, that doesn’t need spelling out after over 120 years of the Labour Party.

In contrast to the Tories, who change their spots every other week at the moment.

Fair enough if you have I just think we have such a desperately poor set of Tories in charge just now that I can’t understand why anybody would be bothered with attacking Labour.
I wouldn't watch anything he's got say, how he was allowed to be a politician is beyond me

Yes I guess so it just feels like in any interviews it’s like oh here they are again criticising - and I know that’s partly their job, but I just think give it a rest and tell us specificallywhat you are going to do.

Manifestos are published prior to elections. The next GE isn't until sometime in 2024. Why would Labour publish a manifesto now?

Starmer can't win right now. In fact Labour can't win right now and it would be the same if Corbyn was still in charge or Rayner or Nandy or Long-Bailey.

Labour supporters pre-occupying themselves with the Corbyn glory days attacking Starmer from every angle, combined with Tories attacking the Leader of the Opposition for doing the job he was elected to do i.e. holding the Government to account, seem to have formed a quite unholy alliance albeit unwittingly.

Yes if he wants to commit political suicide. The Tories would rightly point to playing political games during a national emergency and latterly point to it as dancing to the tune of the unions.

Of course this is EXACTLY what Jezza would have done.
Who is this person they call the Jezza ?

He wont and he shouldnt, you dont have strikes because someone at the top tells you to.

working people withdraw their labour as a last resort, its mentally hard, financially hard and its socially hard.

thats why you should always give Solidarity when workers take that route, because there is no other option.
No - what you do is find a big car park and have a show of hands. Simple

Im doing good deals on surplus donkey jackets if anyone wants one

So the Labour Party is just an "Election" party is it?
Do all Party activists and campaigners hibernate until Starmer opens the box in 2024.
Does nothing matter in your mind to the public in the interim?
Like jobs?
Decent housing?
Child poverty?
Privatising our NHS.
Handing out public money to private firms without being accountable.
?!

Of course it does Roofie and you just have to check my posting history to be assured that all of that matters to me deeply.

I carry a card and the challenge is a daily one, I just approach it differently from you that is all.

"Of course it does.."?
Do you mean Of course it "is" or "isnt"?
The Labour Party has never been a silent sleeping partner with Government, waking up for elections then going back to sleep again.

You share their main characteristic, I'd be surprised if you didn't vote for them.

Teachers should have been vaccinated. They're spending many hours in an enclosed space with a lot of other people.

The police, fire service and supermarket workers aren't doing that
I would argue that supermarket workers are more exposed than most??

OP you should change the thread title. Starmer's gone in a polar opposite direction.

"Keir Starmer opposes strike action by teachers and says they may have to work during holidays."

What a great leader of the Labour party he is - you know, the political organisation that's there to represent workers and the trade union movement. Happy and willing to throw workers Ts & Cs away like that. I wonder who he'll throw under a bus next.
