Hungry kids robbed

Ref State helping low income families with children.

Surely people have a right to 1 or 2 children.

I agree fathers need to provide financial support.

Those 2 children when adults are useful to the whole country as they will often provide support to elderly and/or disabled parents and taking pressure off the State.

Neither are there are millions of permanent intergenerational welfare dependent families as the Sun etc will tell you - people tend to come in and out of poverty. I have relatives whose only income was welfare benefits for 15 years (in the 1980s), but who both have worked for the last 25 years paying taxes. One of their children is a maths teacher, another a care worker, another a remedial therapist, another is a customers services call centre trainer. All have worked and paid taxes since leaving education. Those relatives lived in an economically depressed area of Teesside and could not get work when leaving school and thus work experience.

The chidren also provide a potential adult workforce (such as care workers) and armed forces in some cases to protect the whole country.

Free school meals ensures children are fed in the middle of the day which helps their development to learn and gives the opportunity for both parents to work in the middle of the day. The free meals also keep the cost per meal down for all through economies of scale in school catering facilities.

Free state secondary schools is worth approx £180 per week per child while free school meals is £15 per week - Should the parents of all children be asked to pay some of the full cost of schooling? - particualrly when they have several children? They may say I pay my council tax but that's only £35 per week - I don't agree with this but the principle is similiar, the more children who have the more subsidise you get.

If only people with say regular paid jobs over £25k a year were allowed children would we be better off as a nation? We certainly would struggle to fill most low level jobs without mass immigration.

All I can say is we did look at it as the more you have the higher the cost and I do not expect anyone else to support my kids that is my job as their Dad and my responsibility for having them not yours or anyone else.

We all support one another's kids in reality and so we should. That's what being part of a caring society is all about. Today's kids are tomorrow's doctors, nurses, carers. Their welfare should be guaranteed by society.

Or did you home school your kids, immunise them, provide dentistry, medicine and surgery when required?

No but I have been paye all my life if that helped towards it

If that is the way you want to interpret it so be it. As for well paid jobs do you believe you should not live with in your means. Also not saying no one should not have kids but I do believe you should look if you can afford to keep having them I am sorry if that upsets you but that is my belief that a dad should support his own family and should think about pulling out if not have the money to look after more
Can you give me tonight's Lottery numbers while you're on?

Then you are talking nonsense. Had you had an accident that ended your working life you would have been reliant on society just the same as the people struggling to feed their children. A little empathy, the thought (as my old Mam would say) "there but for the grace of God go I" might help.

When have I said their should be no help what’s so ever all I have said is everyone should take some responsibility for their own life’s. Their is a lot of absent dads out their not taking responsibility for their children. Which I think is wrong. Their is a saying I have lived by on all the different sites I have worked on its better to give than to receive We need to solve the problem of poverty how we do this I do not know

I really dont understand politicians, are they so up themselves and their party that they cant admit they made a mistake.
Why couldnt he come out and say ok we got it wrong we are working with rashford to make this right. Surely that would make them more popular, than this car crash... awful excuse for a human.

Completely. Hancock is an idiot pure and simple.

Tory MP Simon Clarke who voted against free school meals for kids.
Who would have guessed?

Clark needs to go and climb back into whatever hole he hides in these days since he did the dirty on his missus.

Hard to beat up Chartwells when their meagre ration packs are in line with DfE guidance. Need to hold Gormless Gav and Bonkers Bozza to account for this latest government incompetence and u turn. Johnsons face looked like a smacked bottom when Starmer delivered this news to him in PMnoQT

Maybe they can feed the kids on Scottish salmon. Plenty of that sat about going nowhere and its going cheap. Fisheries minister did not have time to look over the Brexit deal apparently, was too busy with organising a nativity trail.

They could can the salmon using metal from the recycled ferries no longer needed by Seaborne Freight - if they had any ferries?

Meanwhile at Asda yesterday, I found myself singing "Yes we have no bananas we have no bananas today" (regardless of shape).

Good old Bozza. Bless him and all those who backed him into office.

... which isn't the fault of the single mother and the hungry kids that are left behind .. hence, society helps them out and we feed the kids where necessary .. see, you do get it when others do the thinking for you. Well done .. (y)

Anyone who uses the nhs or expects a state pension is as much a Scrounger as someone on universal credit. If you can't afford to pay for adequate medical care for your children stop knocking them out.

People excusing starving children under some kind of moral outrage don't see the irony in their lack of morals
