Government now joining with EU to procure ventilators

In both of these cases the Government have let the people of Britain down, a communications mix up and a delay in response over the THE most critical piece of equipment is simply not good enough when additional lives could have been saved. The additional resource would have made a massive impact on the life saving capabilities of the NHS and the testing help reduce the spread of the illness which again would save lives.

soooo strange and coincidental that the chief industrial Brexiteers in JCB and Dyson are being awarded lucrative emergency contracts for PPE and ventilators, especially given all the circumstantial evidence that these items were already available from our good old European neighbours. Almost like someone has gone out of their way to prove we dont need Europe anymore.

How many of the ventilators/ test would we of got from the eu scheme?

More than we will have gotten by not being in it. It needn't be in replacement of any agreement with Dyson, they could have both happened.

As an idea of scale the UK has 8000 currently.

New York State, population 20m, is saying they will need 30,000.

so it could be 1 ventilator?

Could be, but you know fine well it wouldn't be. Are you saying having 1 more ventilator at a better price than we would otherwise be able to buy one would not be better than not having it?

Also no guarantees that Dyons ventilators will work, especially if they're anything like his vacuums. they are also untested.

If you don’t know what we are getting and at what price. How do you know it’s a better price?

Because the collective bargaining powers of the EU will be larger than the UK, which is the whole point of economies of scale, and this scheme in general.

Go try buy 1 unit of something and then try buy 50,000 of something and see which costs the most per unit.

What if all the eu countries have to put the same amount of money in. But they share them out based on which country needs them the most. So Italy get 30k Spain get 19k and the rest are shared between the other 23 countries. Cheap for Italy expensive for the uk

But they dont. That isn't at all how the scheme is working so why talk about an utterly bizarre way of working that you have just pulled out of your backside?
