It's a good yardstick for the rest of the season, our expectations have naturally been raised although i'm sure a defeat or two will have the bed wetters running for the hills. it's not an exact science but where we are at halfway shows us how much better we need to be for the rest of the season.

Luton - (11th) toughest game on paper
Birmingham - (16th) a big decider play again 16th January
Rotherham - (20th) 3 games in one week, over xmas against teams fighting for survival
Sheffield - (24th) 3 games in one week, over xmas against teams fighting for survival
Wycombe - (23rd) 3 games in one week, over xmas against teams fighting for survival

34 points - two wins and a draw 7th+
35 points - two wins and 2 draws 7th place
36 points - two wins and 3 draws 6th place
36 points - three wins 6th place
37 points - three wins 1 draw 5th place
38 points - three wins 2 draws 5th place
39 points - four wins 4th place
40 points - four wins and 1 draw 3rd place
42 points - five wins - on for automatic promotion 2nd place finish

Newy - you know the correlation between Boro and statistics = zero.
We never adhere to the script.
 (y)
Having said that, could someone calculate the standard deviation from the norm based on Boro`s performances since relegation from the Money-grabbers League?

Our "deviation" is not always negative. Indeed, our "deviation" is our "norm" and frequently positive: ie. we beat those we are least expected to and lose to those we are expected to walk over.

Come On Boro!

I predict we win all of them(y)
I also believe in Sugar Candy Mountain and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow ;@))

One game at a time dude but yeh, the more in contention we are come January, the more likely we could see some signings. If our form continues to be inconsistent. Wouldn’t be surprised if we dont sign any one

You've got a great handle on all of this. What's your prediction re total points from those games?

These next five games tho.. ooff

then there's the last four.. whoa! whoa! whoa!

I'm sticking with my pre season prediction and going with 9 points from the next five. Keeping it positive with fingers and toes crossed.
Birmingham and Sheffield W form book probably goes out the window with ex managers and players up against each other. But make you right 9 frpm possible 15 if we’re seriously going to get back in contention. December not traditionally a good month for us. Might just be me but we always seem to go on a terrible rum just about this time of year

Teams in the Championship rarely win their bankers consistently, we know this to our own cost over the years. I hope for 9 points, anything above that is a bonus, anything less will be ‘typical Boro’

Newy - Automatic is normally 88 or 89 points - after the games listed we have played everyone once - hence 44 points would be automatic to me at half way point.

No one gets promoted on 44 points tho, you got to have something in for January (assuming our attacking will improve the 2nd half of the season)

I’m using the next five games to show our condition in what optimistically will be our most difficult period. I may have over simplified.. but hey whatcha gonna do!

Ted, every year is a new data set. What happened before means nada.
Injuries may be the downfall this year.

Buff. Couldnt agree. Didnt say data. Said traditionally. we normally hit some poor form late November through to January just as this years trend suggests. If what happened before means nothing why look at data from previous seasons and use it as a KPI? Youre just being contrary for the sake of it

5 wins seems to be the best option. Let's go for that one.

9-10 points would be a more than competitive return.

I agree its more about winning games than remaining unbeaten. Winning one the losing one is frustrating but its better than drawing games.

This period is really going to test us squad wise. We are on the bones of our ass in some areas. Hopefully paddy comes through Wednesday without a booking.

If we can get into Jan 4-6 points off the playoffs it's been a great start. To be honest you can be 6 points off in April and still make them. We just have to keep hanging in.

I genuinely think it's impossible to look at champo games and say 'banker'. I expected us to beat both Huddersfield and PNE.
