What do you do on evenings?

Simple question really, what do you do to entertain yourself on evenings, especially in winter?

I hate evenings and the whole process of going to bed. I always have. It’s not too bad in summer when I can potter round the garden until gone 10-10.30, but as soon as winter comes, I start to get restless come 6pm.

it’s definitely lead to me drinking more than I’d like.

Any ideas to pass the time welcome, I’m really not one to want to sit on the sofa watching TV with the missus all night.

I write, send stuff off to publishers, so I suppose that's work really. Also edit a mag, which is time consuming.

Couple of nights a week I'm playing on zoom to acoustic music nights. Other nights if we're knackered we'll watch a box set together.

All that and at the mo we're getting a few neighbours who play to lead the street in a Christmas carol singalong before Christmas, so been running through a few tonight.

The last month I’ve been furloughed and I’ve pretty much just drunk alcohol and watched tv whilst stopping at my girlfriends. Probably done a bottle of wine every night 😬

In normal times I’ll go to the gym or cinema, maybe watch a movie or play a bit of Xbox on my rest days. If I’ve got my 3 year old son I’ll usually just collapse with exhaustion 🤣 When I’m working I’m usually asleep by 9 as I get up at 03:30.

Hate this time of year and the short days, can’t wait to get past Xmas and the shortest day knowing better weather and better fishing is on the way. I’m back to work tomorrow so as soon as the match finishes I’ll be asleep.

Work until about 6/7pm, cook, eat tea, bosh a bottle of wine, watch an hour or so of telly and in bed by 10pm latest.

Not great, I'd love to say we do more but in this lockdown there's not much else you can do.

Work 645 ish to 530 ish. Have a sit down, make something to eat, peruse FlightRadar for a bit, watch a bit of tv, walk the dog, might play a game if I can persuade anyone else to, bed at 9 ish to read.

To be fair, I do that this time of year without lockdown, so nothing much has changed except work s&f times would take into account the commute. Been manically busy at work since February and can’t see it changing any time soon so have swapped driving for working.

A mate of mine who lives alone, swears by knocking one out every evening. Swears it makes him go to sleep.
Just think it is an excuse myself.

A 'friend' eh smog. 😉

Well in my normal I go to gym 4/5 days a week, cook dinner, sit down with the Mrs and by that point it's nearly bed time.

Weekends are golf and football, seeing friends and family.. it's not a terrible life.

Sit down at 8ish with my wife and enjoy some TV or play a game of scrabble or something else but try to enjoy the evening together.

Sounds daft but get yourself some Lego... some of the adult sets they do now are fantastic like a Land Rover defender and cranes and excavators and all sorts

It’s funny you mentioned these. The last couple of years I’ve bought myself a Lego set to do between Xmas and New year, when things are quiet. I bought the McLaren last year.

I spend quite a bit of time on iPlayer and you tube.
iPlayer has some amazing programmes on and its surprising how much old stuff comes up that you wouldn't think of being on it. It and you tube are quite similar really in that if you use them often enough, they get to see the stuff you like and then start suggesting other stuff for you that you never would dream of.
