For those who can’t see the double touch..

Just watched it on Quest - when you see it from behind I think it looks like a double touch but how the ref who is >10 yards away can see it & be a 100% certain is beyond me.

Finally someone who couldn’t see it originally but after watching the EFL highlights agrees that it can be seen.

Some sanity at last.

The ball appears to hit the top of his right foot as it slides in front of the ball after he has struck it with his left. It definitely changes the direction of the ball which also has top spin. The ref will have almost certainly also heard the double contact. The rule seems to be a stupid rule in these circumstances but I don’t think anybody can say the ref hit it wrong

I’ve now watched it from all angles, across all the different broadcaster footage, with the volume on very high, 78’473 times. I’ve watched it from all angles that can possibly be imagined, (Sat upright, lying on my left side, lying on my right side, upside down, standing on my head, facing the other way with my torso bent down so that my head is between my legs )
I am therefore legitimately qualified and authorised to inform you all that it was one touch and the goal should have stood.
And that’s the end of that 😘

The simple fact that if some people say they have seen something and others say the didn’t see it, it’s more likely that the event occurred

So ghosts exist then?

And all the other religious gubbins that has happened over the past 5000 years?

It's actually far more likely that people are claiming to see something that they haven't seen to (a) be contrarian and (b) as an appeal to authority style argument position (i.e. it was given so it MUST be correct or it wouldn't have been given).

I'm not going to dispute the fact that it was a double-hit. However, even if Tav himself comes out and says he definitely hit it twice I still can't honestly say that any of the footage (Sky, Quest and the live feed) has categorically shown a double touch. There isn't an angle that shows the trajectory or the spin of the ball pattern change (the latter being a great indicator for deflections and saves etc. when there are disputes).

So unless some other footage turns up there no chance I'll ever join the camp of having SEEN the ball hit twice.

Yeah good point regarding ghosts and religion.

Regarding your points about authority. It could also be said that people are saying they didn’t see it simply because they are Boro fans.

And the contrarian point works both ways.

Also, I’d say the angle from directly behind the goal and directly behind Tav shows the trajectory of the ball change, especially the angle from directly behind Tav.

I think it’s good if people on here are biased in favour of the Boro.

Personally I would expect that from a Boro fan.

Well done to all those posting who are biased in our favour.

The ref was biased not in our favour and as somebody above who knows him has said he is from Pools and hates the Boro so a marginal decision was always going to go against us.

A laughable ref in my opinion.

That’s what I don’t get either

Asif it’s 50/50 (at best) then surely any Boro fan would edge on the goal side surely.

Christ. 1 person said a teacher used to wind the kids up about Boro at school and suddenly it’s evidence he was gagging to “cheat” us. Grow up ffs 🤦‍♂️
Maybe some people are just able to view things objectively, irrespective of the fact they’ve been a Boro fan for over 30 years.

Get some Boro bias into yourself man, this is a Boro forum for goodness sake, what’s the matter with you?

Wow!! That is some high quality nonsense you’ve typed there lads.

I wish you’s had written those posts earlier, I wouldn’t have spent so much time discussing it with you.

There is a difference between wanting it to happen and whether it actually happened or not.

To echo B-Mans point, I can look at it objectively to decide whether it was one touch or two, despite wishing it had of only been one touch.

I think it’s pretty obvious why so many Boro fans are stating that they can only see one touch now.

Sorry to disappoint you but your view on here (or anybody’s) is just not that important, the ref made his decision and we debate it and hopefully move on to a win next match.
Let’s lighten up a bit and get behind the Boro 👍

I never said my view was important, so not sure how you’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll be disappointed now that you’ve told me it isn’t.

To be fair it was me who said that and I still think it was the right decision the ref made.

We come on here to give our opinions and talk all things boro. Not everything going to be bias though I’m afraid. Thank god it isn’t or this place would be extremely boring.

I know you were but I thought I could reply to it as your point was just a general point really but fair enough
No problem, I think we’ve had a good argument about Tav’s pen and let’s be honest we are all gutted the goal was disallowed. I thought your comments about the ref were interesting and despite what I’ve said I’m sure he is professional enough to officiate a match fairly. It was his decision to make and it’s done now, let‘s hope we beat Derby.
I don’t want to go on about it but B-Man had a disappointing attitude in a generally good debate, I think he deserved to be called out. As for Heam, he spoilt himself a little saying posters were wasting his time but overall I don’t think he’s a bad lad.
