This is the season we should be going for it

If ever a statement was more applicable this is the season. Sadly, it can’t be realistic because of this bleeding COVID. Anyone else feel the same as me? Neil Warnock- right man, wrong time.

He has sorted out the defence, made midfield more competitive and the missing piece in the jigsaw is the striking department.

Brilliant job by the King of the Championship. Oh how we could do with a striker - however given the state of finances in the game it is looking this will be a mere pipe dream. If we are still there or thereabouts in January could it be a different story? I think Gibbo would be unable to resist and get a striker in.

I hope so, this season is a season of genuine hope.

We have a genuine chance, which is exciting.
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts under Warnock here, which are the circumstances in which special things sometimes happen.
I have real hope and enthusiasm.

Yep, I think we're just short and wouldn't be if we didn't have to cut our cloth due to no crowds. But who knows?

On the glass is half full side though I think a few of our "rivals" have taken more of a gamble and they can't all go up. So we could be in a comparatively strong position next season if they have to cut costs. Particularly if Warnock stays on.

Frankly, the lists of free agents is hardly inspiring. They are free agents for very obvious reasons - they are far from prolific in scoring goals. I would like to see some of our younger forwards- for example Burrell- integrated into the first team squad and getting a place on the bench. There isn’t a better time to blood one or two from the bench.

I am all for going for it right now.
I don’t agree with all this waiting for another season malarkey.

Relegated clubs Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford are no great shakes and seem shellshocked.
Wait another year and we might have to contend with far better relegated clubs.

Lets go for it !.

By shellshocked I mean their results haven’t been awesome yet.
Players have left and managers are on tenterhooks.

I would fear Burnley, Sheffield United Fulham more next season if the dropped.

Depends what you mean by "going for it" I think. If it means gambling on promotion and another firesale if we fail then no thanks.

There's obviously varying degrees of how much of a gamble you can take but I don't want failure to go up this season setting us back years again. It's kind of a moot point for now anyway as it's free agents only and I doubt any of them are going to make a big difference to our chances one way or another.

Our position in January will probably determine how much Gibson rolls the dice, but I think he'll still be relatively cautious and will be right to be so IMO.

I think we are in danger of getting carried away here. Even if the unthinkable happened how on earth could we compete in the premiership.

It takes time to build such a squad

That’s rubbish as the reality is there is no wrong time to get promoted, look at Villa look at Leeds the reality is the days of building a squad are gone.

Regardless of how good the squad is you’d need to strengthen it regardless, so get promoted then see what you need.

As for fire sales this will happen regardless anyway as missing out on promotion often leads to names out the door.

The reality is there is no bad time to get promoted in modern football, the key is not fking it up once you get there ( that’s was our issue before).

Yeah, it's worth it for the money even if you come straight back down. Particularly with covid-19 and the impact that has on clubs finances. The trick is not ******* it all away on rubbish.

Football costs money this is nothing new and other clubs have brought in funding so why are we struggling.

Aren't we struggling because we had a manager who handed out long term contracts to poor players , and then in came another manager who repeated those actions but brought in even worse players while squandering the last of our funds.

Add to this that we inherited a couple of talents but then sold these players off at a price way below their true value and replaced them with inferior footballers.

‘Lets go for it’

lets see now.... yep I meant ‘ Lets go for it’ I can't really put any other way.

Lets go for the top, lets give it 100%, lets try to win promotion.

whats the alternative?.
Tread water for a few years, wait for another manager, wait until we get a proper goalscorer, wait for Gibbo to win the lottery or wait for the virus to go away?

Lets just go for it eh ?.

Alternatives could be administration or points deductions if we gamble on spending money we don't have or breach FFP. Just off the top of my head.
