The Ignore button - I really like this now

Well-known member
I was very sceptical about this when it was first introduced. I like to think I can listen to any opinion with objectivity and actually enjoy the posts that contradict my own views - most of the them
But I had a particular poster who would hurl personal abuse at just about any post I made. Even my occasional tongue in cheek ones. So much so that it turned in to a vendetta.
Since exercising the option it has disappeared like a puff of smoke. I feel so much better for it.

I used to laugh when people say they were bullied on the internet. My standard answer was just switch it off, or that they were just imaginary friends anyway.
This is my only ignored user. I can even write this without getting the abuse this user would even like to throw at this.

*yawn*

I am the poster in question and to say he’s talking out of his backside is being polite.

This is the guy who was trolling me on the day of my fathers funeral, trying to goad me into an argument despite it being pointed out to him that I would shortly be seeing my father make his final journey.

He then suggested I shouldn’t even be on the board that day as if I were somehow disrespecting my father by being on there while watching the clock tick by slowly.

He was then berated by quite a number of regular posters for being bang out of order and didn’t like it.

HundredRoom aka Clive Road Stamper from the previous board really does have issues and is somehow always the victim despite his abrasive and downright nasty attitude towards most posters.

No doubt the attention seeking loon will take great pleasure in temporarily unblocking me to see that I’ve responded and smile wryly to himself as he considers himself to have won some sort of victory. The man is a sandwich short of a picnic.

It's great for getting rid of the trolls too, makes it a better experience. I'm happy for differing opinions (it would be rubbish without it), but when people troll, vendetta, or can't keep it civil then (n)

For a moment there I was convinced it was me he'd blocked 😆

I should point out it’s a couple of weeks ago since he blocked me, and since then I’ve made no reference to him.

He’s obviously on a fishing / attention seeking expedition. I really wonder what he gets from his ways - perhaps that’s why he drinks, to escape from himself.

Ohhhhh bitchy 😜

Pretty sure there are people on here who have blocked me, there’s people on here I will never agree with, too different politically or have too different views on Brexit etc but I doubt I’d ever block anyone.

I honestly couldn’t give a **** how people vote or what they believe, I don’t like the personal criticism of people or even the shaming and abuse people get for voting one way or the other. Everyone’s a expert on the internet and everyone is a hero behind their keyboard, I just laugh off any personal abuse and add that persons name to the list of people I’m going to murder 😉

Sorry to hear about your dad though.

I am a bellend and now finally Borolad is going to kick me off here.

Yes agree

Also agree with the last comment, at such a low point for weegord & his family to be spoken to like that is deplorable & totally out of order, sad to see one person writing that on a football message board to another, although the majority don't know each other one thing we have in common is the Boro & should be respectful to each other

Why would anybody start a post about someone they've blocked?

Bizzare, I've had disagreements with people on here but haven't bothered blocking them, even you @SmallTown 😏 although I'm finding myself agreeing more and more with him these days, is that a side effect of something? 😀

I can understand why people would use the block button but I’ve not and I don’t think I would unless it had become personal abuse, I find that I’m probably in agreement with most posters on one subject or another, might be poles apart politically but aligned on a footballing opinion and that alignment on one subject gives a more tolerant view on those where there is disagreement.

I’d like to think that there’s not a person on this board I wouldn’t try and help if they were in trouble or have a pint with if our paths crossed in the ‘real world’ I think sometimes people do get too personal but I think that when that line is crossed there are enough fair minded decent posters to let the person know they’ve gone too far.

Who is top of the Ignored Table?

Some posters won't be content until they've got their own cosy bubble to wallow in. And for a poster to proudly announce that they are hitting the ignore button is quite odd really.

Now that would be interesting, the hall of shame. Would highlight who is abusive and trolling. Whoever is top of the table at teh end of the month should get their account revoked.
