Trying to make sense of this and struggling....
Kids are in London (Tier 2) (They live together)
We are in Tier 1
Can they come and stay?

Sorry, had to edit this cos the detail was wrong
Thanks for the earlier replies which now have no relevance - if you could all start again, that would be nice

Use your common sense would be my view. I think it’s ‘advised’ against. Which technically means just do what any government minister or adviser would do.

Anyway, assuming you are in Tier 1, I think the answer is still 'no'. You can mix with other households indoors but they can't. I'm also assuming your children are grown up.

Actually it might be the travel that’s advised against, the mixing of households is probably illegal if they’re not in your support bubble.

pay them to be cleaners or to decorate then they can be in the house.

For clarity contact Mr D. Cummins, c/o no 10 Downing Street, he‘ll advise.

Travel is advised against unless essential but not illegal. How old are the kids? Guessing not young ones going between parents? In which case unless you’re meeting in your garden, probably not

The thing is Finny, it’s a straightforward question and the answers show just how confused everyone is, despite the tier system being introduced so that everyone could have a ‘clear understanding’ of the rules.

I’d still go with your own common sense and good judgment.

That’s the way we are thinking - 90% certain they are coming

I have got a niece in London Finny who wants to travel up to see me in Tier 1. We have erred on the side of caution and given up on the idea.

i have a mate who has a house in Lancashire (Tier 3) and also a house down here in Herts Tier 1. He has no qualms about coming back here to live as normal life as possible having spent this weekend up there.

For Finny and Cardiff. Its not clear but I would say invite your family to visit you. Treat it as a holiday.

“However, there are no specific travel restrictions set in place if people want to travel to another region deemed a “medium” risk. This means poeple can holiday in anywhere in England that is also categorised as tier one.”

Cheers for that

FWIW my reading of the guidelines are you can travel, but its the staying over that's prohibited (by law I believe). However I suppose using the holiday ideology you could turn your house in to a B&B, print off a covid QR code and charge them for staying. What's the going rate for a B&B in Lincolnshire and let's face you'd make a killing cos you could use all you Coop deals to feed them.

Another hazy rule designed to assist business i.e hotels not dissimilar to forbidding meeting your family indoors but alowing mixing with 10 strangers in an office environment.

Well I’m travelling by train to Manchester airport, then getting on a plane, then a taxi In the next 24 hrs. But I can’t have A coffee with my sister 🙄
