Morsey looks like he’s been here for years

I think he’s that good at his job that we absolutely don’t need Howson and Saville alongside him. It should just be Howson. Obviously Saville is a good enough player for rotation and coming on in games but I think we need to get Roberts in the pocket as soon as he is fit to do so.

Definitely the best summer signing👍That's based on 2 and a half games.

He came on at QPR and we got better. He has the ability to 'tactical foul' and see danger. He basically brakes up play but actually runs with the ball after making an interception. He's far more of a mobile defensive CM than say Clayton (who we believed he was like for like).

Wigan fans thought he would be first out of the door based on ability. He was player of the season in a side better than ours.

I know the fee was undisclosed but the buzz is 1 - 1.5mil (former club got a percentage). To think Saville cost 7mil. He's not 6 times better than Morsy😂

He's not better than Morsy. Saville is beige. Just don't see it at all.

We never looked like conceding today, but equally didn't really look like scoring either. I think replacing Saville with Roberts will give us the right balance, so that we're still difficult to break down but we can also create chances and score goals.

Morsy is doing what Clayton did when at his peak .
Very impressed , and yes , I agree don't need the 3 , although today they all did decent work .
Against lesser teams we can rest one and use Roberts in front of the other 2 .

I’m going to stick my neck out and say NW is putting together a VERY decent team! Pity we didn’t get the extra striker over the line

I agree. Although we are low on creativity at the moment, there is plenty on show to suggest we are going to be a well organised, disciplined hard to beat team this season. Not glamouress but effective. Typical Warnock side. Play off spot not out of the question, in my opinion.

When McNair is back in midfield, he and Morsy will be a far more potent midfield at the expense of Saville.
I believe Howson will keep his place.

Honestly, I never even noticed Saville yesterday until he made a very good tackle in the last ten minutes.

2 or 3 tackles aint enough for me.
Like my old school reports used to say, he ‘should try harder’.

Based on his form this season I honestly don't think he'll be moved out of defence, he's been outstanding - and still seems to have a licence to get forward.

I think he reads the game excellently from the back too, a number of quality interceptions yesterday.

We will see when Hall is fit again, but knowing our luck it will coincide with Fry or Djksteel being out.

I agree totally that he is playing well there, and I’d leave well alone too.

Yeah looks very good, does the Clayton role, but is much better on the ball
Not sure i agree with that, he's got a way to go yet to get to the levels Clayton was at under AK.
Unless you mean Morsy is more creative, then I agree, bit he us playing a more attacking role than Clayton did.

Clayton was clearly better at the defensive blocking role, but even under Aitor, his on the ball ability was very limited, he was too slow at getting the ball out from under his feet and out to the more creative players. Morsey looks much better at that, much more comfortable with ball at feet. I remember woodgate claiming that Clayton would playa 'quarter back' role for us, pinging balls from that deep position, but he just isn't capable of anything more than a 20 yard pass, Morsey is.

McNair isn't a 360 degree player, he doesn't have that awareness of what is behind him as well as in front. That is a problem in a midfield role, not so much when in defence.

Proper midfielder, even looks like he might have a goal or two in him. We look solid with him Howson and Saville and Howson is starting to look like the goal threat I was expecting when he arrived. Still more to come from Saville, hopefully, with a run as a more attacking option. Never been sure why we bought Saville based on his Millwall displays as an attacking midfielder and then always played him defensively.
