Assombalonga injured

Taking the club captain (and your record signing) off at half time because he was rubbish isn’t a good look. We are going to need him over the next few months though so hopefully it’s a kick up the ârse that will have the desired effect. Still disappointing after a fortnight off mind.

Sounds like Britt will be ok for Bristol City. Don’t think he was injured, Warnock just said he thought he was a bit stiff so would save him for midweek

Or did he say Britt was a BIG stiff !
He did nothing again today.
His value in this team is basically worthless.
He doesn't shoot, he doesn’t head the ball, he couldn’t dribble down my grandsons bib.
And he couldn’t trap a bag of wet cement.
All he does is create work for the laundry lasses.
Thank God he will be gone in January.

Never been a fan of Britt when playing for us and when we lose his wage next season, as well as Howsons and Fletchers we will be better for it.
We have never had a team to bring the best out of him, so in a way I dont blame him. This season, other than today, he has worked hard, trying to do things that don’t really come naturally to him such as holding the ball up and running the line. I would not say he has been that effective at it, but he has put the effort in. Unfortunately though we have very few options, unless we can bring a physical presence in on a free.

We have had some good strikers over recent times and not really made good use of them. Some were benched and not played , the odd one was sold off cheaply and replaced at huge expense by an inferior, others picked up their money and ran the clock down.
When we were left to start this season with Assombalonga and Fletcher we knew that it was a relegation fight rather than a promotion drive which was coming up.

Things are now worse than that and due to events we are now struggling in what seems to me is a poor Championship.

It's going to be a long hard season, but Boro will be OK , but I cannot see another Warnock promotion miracle. I'll settle for still being in this division at the end of this season.

Agreed. I think it's all about being 'competitive' now this season. We just don't have the depth and quality of squad needed. Shame because we certainly have the man to get us up but he's not a magician!

100%. We were competitive today and if, according to Warnock, the linesman was a little more alert may have been celebrating 3 points. We would all have been talking about promOtion then.

Yeah, fine lines n all. Have to take heart I guess that we got a point against a decent team and could have won it, as you say. Just wish we could've added that bit of quality that we desperately need.

I don't think this system suits him. It's frustrating because I said that playing alongside another striker should help him but we either play balls into the channels for our strikers to chase after or high balls upfield for them to win in the air - it isn't Britts' game.

The only way we will get the best out of Britt is if we play him as an advanced forward, playing on the shoulder of the last defender and with somebody like Patrick Roberts playing in the hole to support him. I can't see Warnock trying that though to be honest.

Britt needs to be playing as high up the pitch as possible, and to be involved in our general play as little as possible. He's very one dimensional but if we're not prepared to play in a way which will suit his strengths, the reality is we might as well not play him. It was like playing with 10 men in the 1st half as he just isn't effective playing in this system.

We don't know the seriousness of our financial position so can't really make any judgement, we must be very skint which is a real worry but we are close to being a decent team, sad really...

Yeah, that's the frustration and you can sense it in Neil too. Just a couple of good additions in the right areas.

Watch his goals compilation 2019
He is fitter , thinner , sharper , faster .
He also looked full of confidence , so maybe he needs an arm around his shoulder to get the old Britt back .
He lifts his shirt to show a slim physique part the way through , so maybe he struggles with his weight control . He does look heavier now , and slower .
A fit Britt is worth 20 points as his contribution will get that .
He , and the management team need to get him back on track , for his , and the clubs benefit . If he does well in the next 3 months he may get a decent move .

I would have thought the time to bring in the free agents was before the window shut...
First couple of weeks after shutting, any club's interest surely comes with a degree of desperation?
This would put the player in a relative position of strength when negotiating.

We are more likely to score with him on the pitch alongside Akpom than just playing a lone striker. He made as much of an impact today as tav did
