Well There We Have It, The Easy 'Oven Ready Deal' that Never Was...

Give me an example then.
July 2017

The negotiations between the two sides resumed in Brussels on Monday with the UK's divorce bill top of the agenda.

Other matters due to be discussed before the latest round of discussions conclude on Thursday are the Irish border issue and citizens' rights.

But Henkel has waded in to the Brexit debate, saying European Parliament's negotiator, Guy Verhofstadt, and the EU's chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, want to punish Britain in the talks.

The deputy adds, "The reason is simple. They would seek to make sure that Brexit is such a catastrophe that no country dares to take the step of leaving the EU again."

That’s not an example. Try again.

If you are one of the have nots in society and the current system is not doing anything for you and you are struggling by on the bones of your **** why would you not roll the dice and vote to change it?

At least you can vote out the tories or labour if you don’t like how they are running the show

Yes it is an example, you're attempting to deflect the conversation because you can't respond.... that's fine

#January1st :p(y)

That is an opinion offered by an MEP. It is not an example of the EU attempting to punish the UK by its negotiating stance. That you not only think it is but are also gleefully excited at what is coming after the end of the transition period tells me everything I need to know.

I actually have a bit of sympathy with this. Years and years of awful governments pointing the finger at the EU and foreigners and being backed up by our media quite evidently resulted in a huge protest vote when the liars and chancers promised then unicorns.

Maybe the remain thinking should take a hard look at those that represented them , the Labour party that couldn't make their case for the easiest referendum win in history.
As you all (most) say the case for staying in the EU was a no brainer.

Pity you chose those with no brains to make the case.
Er.....hang on a minute....David Cameron and George Osborne were occupying the top positions in the Tory Party Government at the time and they were pro EU. Or have you conveniently forgot that?
Don’t start blaming Labour for the unfolding Brexit shambles.

That’s all that’s left. More of that will be shovelled now. We’ve had it all on here so far: labour’s fault, the EU’s fault, the remain parliament’s fault - funny but it is never ever the leave charlatans or the leave voters being conned that’s responsible,

It’s ok though, just wait until 2040 when we will see the sunlit uplands.

They obviously felt like they have nothing to lose, a chance of a fairer society in their own part of the world. The poverty statistics in this country are the reasons why 51.8% voted to leave.

Calling all 17.4 million people racists and gammons for wanting to improve their lot is a big part in the red wall turning blue and gave Boris the massive majority he ended up with.

We need to look beyond the soundbites which inevitably are what these threads become and look at the root cause.

I know the root cause. The problem I have is with people trying to defend it for years down the line and those that continue to deny reality. I have contempt for the conmen but my compassion for the conned wears thin.

But we haven’t even left yet (given we are still trading on common terms), should we not see where we are a few years down the line especially with the COVID effect on the economy putting it an even more volatile state. Maybe it will end in a fairer society with more evenly distributed wealth, the left may get a better chance of governing after the fall out from brexit upsetting the status quo.

The big point is that we really don’t know as yet.

Except that we do. And it’s already happening in front of our eyes.
