Greatest vocalists of all time

Talking of Frank, his performance on this was sublime. I know it's cultural appropriation and that generally people understandably prefer Paul Robeson's original (my old man included, who just loved Robeson), but there's something about the wearied and worn quality of Sinatra's voice on it. Just turn up the volume and listen to where he takes it from about 3:20....

Freddie Mercury must be up there although I don’t think he was everybody’s cup of tea.

My favourite female singer is Carly Simon.

Subjective and it depends on the genre, I love Sinatras " Thats Life" and Robesons "Land of my fathers" and theres not a Welsh bone in me. Folk its Ray Jackson and Jimmy Alan Hull or Harvey Andrews, but theres The Seekers "Find another you" or one I sung to my kids and grandkids " Morning town express" Then theres R&R Elvis " Mystery Train" , Blues Howlin Wolf " Smokestack Lightning" New Wave / Punk Hugh Cornwell or Hazel O Connor. Singers like Randy Crawford, Gloria Estafan, Joan Armatrading Moving songs from crowds is there a finer sound than the Welsh Rugby crowd , or Hibs singing Sunshine on Leith...... well only maybe the Boro singing E I O.

That rendition of Sunshine on Leith by Hibs fans after they won the Scottish Cup was truly special.

Wasn't gonna bother with this thread as we have had it before but want to post this one song. It is a brilliant song and a brilliant vocal performance. It should have been huge. As good as anything The Walker Brothers did and I think they are immense. Listen to the song you won't regret it.

White & Torch Parade

It's a funny one with rock music, it's what sounds good for the material over technical ability that does it for me e.g Lemmy sounds great (y) For a talented and great sounding vocalist I'll go for Mike Patton.
