Two superb saves, especially from.Clarke. That camera doesnt do justice to how he arched his back and clawed the ball up and over.People earlier slagging off Jones, for missing the chance but he hit the target and the keeper saved it, you can’t ask more than hitting the target which is what Clarke did too

I think a striker goes for the opposite corner though and the keeper's then moving in the wrong direction. That said I heard Maddo criticising Jones saying he should have done better. Decent effort and a good save for me.People earlier slagging off Jones, for missing the chance but he hit the target and the keeper saved it, you can’t ask more than hitting the target which is what Clarke did too
Sorry FH replied before reading all of the posts.I think a striker goes for the opposite corner though and the keeper's then moving in the wrong direction. That said I heard Maddo criticising Jones saying he should have done better. Decent effort and a good save for me.
It's the difference between Forss and Jones. In that position, Forss reads the keeper and puts it the other way. With Jones, the keeper reads him and despite a decent attempt, the keeper saves.I think a striker goes for the opposite corner though and the keeper's then moving in the wrong direction. Was going wild at the TV with that Jones chance. Couldn't believe a pro wouldn't go back across the goal in that position. In many cases you can. The defence of Jelle Vossen was always that keepers thwarted him with wondersaves, but in truth, he often gave them a chance by hitting the centre of the goal.
I don't think Jones was in any way as egregious as those misses: the keeper is always going to have a chance in that position. The keeper will have to gamble, but if he guesses which way to go, he'll have a chance. Vossen, by contrast, could have given the keeper 0 chance.
Still, I think a more natural finisher than Jones might have gone back across the keeper, but the criticism of the miss is over the top
