So, I contributed to the thread a week or two ago about being over 50 and all our aches and pains (!) that we all shared.
My Mrs has been drinking the recommended 2.7 litres water daily for over a year. She did some research recently though and recognised that that impurities in tap water (such as fluoride to name but one) actually impede the benefits of drinking - so we bought a Brita water filter.
She's been trying to convince me to drink more water for such a long time.
So, I had some mild knee pain suddenly develop over Xmas period which stopped me jogging and was painful just to get out of bed until I got 'it' going/flexing through the day. Weird.
I have also recently developed finger stiffness through the night meaning when I wake up for the loo I needed to flex them several times to get them 'loose' again and the same in the morning ! WTF. !
And have been having regular 'gout' flare ups in my toes and ankles.
So, I could basically see me starting to break down physically which isn't very nice - it affects your mental health I believe or it had done with me.
As my wife explained the filtered water was worth a try - I read a things online and how it benefits joints, tissue and muscles by lubricating them and keeping them elastic and ensures your circulatory system works well. A natural way of looking after oneself.
I therefore took the decision 15 days ago to give it a try and have been drinking 4 litres of filtered water each day. (i've never been to the toilet more mind!)
I try to drink the 4 litres before 1-2pm.
I can honestly say that, say here today, over the last 4-5 nights my finger pain through the night has gone completely. My knee pain after14 days drinking has reduced by over 80% at least. I don't even think about it when I get out of bed to go to the loo in the last 4-5 nights.
I'm astounded.
My diet has improved as I am eating less processed food and my wife has been doing me a huge pot of med veg with bulgar wheat and quinoa to eat across 7 days. But we still have a weekly takeaway and pop to the pub for a couple every week.
So, i've improved my diet but i'm not a saint.
I just wanted to share my experience with all you folks experiencing aches and pains and think that there is nothing that can reasonably be done. Honestly folks, if you have the commitment (and pain should provide that commitment to potentially reverse it) then give it a go.
