Surely if you're good enough you're old enough to be in the England squad?
Should be in ahead of Henderson.Surely if you're good enough you're old enough to be in the England squad?
So should Hackney tbf.Should be in ahead of Henderson.
Rooney was only 17 when he got his first call-up.
Can't really argue with that.
He's had 15 league matches in his career.
If he was putting in the same performances for Bournemouth, absolutely nobody would be expecting him to be getting a senior England cap after his first half season of football.
It's only because he's at the Media Darling of Man United that it's even being discussed.
Getting called up for England U21s at 18 is already a massive honour.
agreed, but I'd still have had him in for one of the more forward players. Too many wide options, not enough CM options for me.Can't really argue with that.

It might have been a good idea to call him up just to train with the squad and see if he’s worth a gamble for the Euros in case of injury to one of the other players.
agree, looks like he's going to experiment with dropping Jude deeper, and giving Gordon, Palmer, Branthwaite and Toney game time. I do get his concerns though.Rooney was only 17 when he got his first call-up.
I don't get the argument that it's only because he's at Man United that it's being discussed. It just demonstrates what a talent he is, the fact that he's currently keeping Christian Eriksen out of the side.
Surely these upcoming friendly games should be used as opportunities to experiment. We all know what Henderson's game is about.
Yeah, it's a shame because I rate Toney but for me it should be between Toney and Watkins with regards to who gets the call-up to be the 2nd striker alongside Kane.I would have had him in for Toney.
We have Kane and Watkins for centre forward. Realistically Watkins won’t even get that much action at the Euros and he’s now comfortable ahead of Toney in the pecking order in my view.
Might aswell had a look at another midfielder in these friendlies who might actually have a chance to shine and get a squad place in Mainoo.
No need for 3 centre forwards in my view especially when Rashford , Bowen and Gordon could cover in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Equally though he could start with Henderson and Rice as the two sitters. Personally I'd really like to see Stones and Rice as the two sitters. He could use these friendies to try it out.agree, looks like he's going to experiment with dropping Jude deeper, and giving Gordon, Palmer, Branthwaite and Toney game time. Seems peoples fears that he will still with Philips or Henderson alongside Rice are unfounded....and another option obviously emerged in Branthwaite to try and nudge Maguire out the door.

Surely it's an opportunity for Toney to show what he can do after his England career was frozen for a year, there's no guarantee that Watkins and Kane will both be injury free in the summer and it's a contingency.
It's not necessarily an indication that they're all going to the Euros.
Southgate only named 2 out and out strikers in the last World Cup squad: Kane and Wilson.
He'd named 3 in the last England squad before that World Cup: Kane, Toney and Abraham, with Wilson missing out with injury.
Toney is a good league player, but I find his personality and character bemusing. Could be a troubling influence in the squad. I'd probably take Solanke before Toney. Might not score as many, but he works hard, strong and mobile, is excellent at hold up play and not a tosser. 15 prem goals this season tooYeah, it's a shame because I rate Toney but for me it should be between Toney and Watkins with regards to who gets the call-up to be the 2nd striker alongside Kane.
