Whilst I agree I also think it's a bit of a moot point; Scotts primary function as DofF isn't to identify new players, he has a scouting and recruitment team for that, rather his role, I would suggest, is to ensure each constituent part of the playing side of the club works effectively, both in isolation and collectively together.It's nothing like that.
Scott outright credited Danks with Archer and Ramsey, he coached them both at youth level at Aston Villa.
Danks coached Morgan Rogers for years whilst both were at West Brom, we then signed him after an indifferent loan spell at Blackpool.
The most likely answer is that Danks recommended a player he coached at youth level.
I suspect he also recommended Alex Gilbert, for the same reason, and that's been an expensive waste of money.
Ultimately he is accountable to the overall success of our recruitment of course, but I think the debate around his ability to spot signings is very much overplayed.
