Insect bites WTF

Every summer for the past few years I come back from the allotment with 1, 2 or 3 insect bites which means several bites a day, every day, from May/June/July/Aug/Sept.

They are invariably on the neck, back, waist or ankles. Fair enough, midges or mozzies perhaps? But no.

Because sometimes I get bit on my feet, even though I'm wearing thick shoes and socks, armpit, ball sac and yesterday my nob . How the hell a flying insect gets in there without getting squashed I just can't understand.

It is the exact same type of bite so it must be the same thing surely?

I've looked all over the internet and it's doing my head in trying to find out exactly what's biting me cos I've never caught anything in the act ever.

I used to get bitten multiple times daily whenever I went to see my horses. Now I buy and wear these throughout the summer, 89p for a pair In B&M and they last about 2 weeks each.

Years ago I went to the doctors (Dr Beeby, Coulby Newham) covered in what I thought were bites all over my body, arms and legs and I was down the same line as you in asking how come I was being repeatedly bitten in so many places most of which were not even exposed and what he said was that I had only been bitten once or twice but that what I was experiencing was my bodies reaction being spread out through the bloodstream, maybe this is what you have.

August / Sept every summer I get bitten to hell at top of legs and around waist band area by what I don’t know. It’s so bad I even wondered one year if I’d got fleas!! Thankfully not. Just started with a load of bites in those same areas this week but am putting it down to the fact I was out walking on the NY moors on Saturday. It’s very annoying. Last year was first in ages I didn’t get bitten and now here we are again. Might give them bands a try.

Now that's interesting, if that is possible it would explain it, there's no other explanation I can possibly imagine!

I will give them a go I'm running out of bite cream as it is THX

Exactly the same here, seem to acquire 1 or 2 every day for the last week or so. Very itchy and lanacane seems to help a bit, but when I'm getting bitten is a mystery. The bites are legs, thighs, bum and belly. Got about 7 on the go at present. The wife has none so I cant figure out where I am when bitten

Have to say, I’m kind of glad to find out it’s not just me this happens to as I genuinely thought it was!

When I played cricket and was in the field after a bowling spell I was like pig pen out of Charlie Brown with all the midgees flying round my head. 🤣

I get bitten so does my daughter.

My son doesn't and nor does the missus!

I have no idea why insects find me & her tasty and not them

They probably do to a certain degree, but don't have the same reaction to the bite.

Sorry, just seen the above rely.

Anthisan Cream is very good for treating bites, stings etc. Used it for years.

Strange like others I always get bitten to hell and others in my family don't seem to...
Mosquito's when abroad are the worst.

Funny how they like some people and not others.
Went to corfu once ,landed late and it was pitch black when we got to the villa. It was red hot inside so I opened the doors to cool down. We nodded off for a while. When I woke up I could see these black lines on the wall next to me . The room was full of nozzles.
My son had 3 or 4 bites. I had none and the Mrs looked like she had been a mozzie buffet. She was bitten from head to foot.
I never get bitten. Always thought it was because I'm quite hairy and they dont like it. Mrs reckons I have sour blood 🤣

Get some smidge. Always have it with me when filming outdoors in Scotland and take it to Lapland as well. The mozzies and midges might still land on you but I have watched them do it ... they don't land often but, when they do, they fly off again without gorging.

I have had two particularly large insect bites that turned rather nasty looking. One was on the back of my calf after a cycle ride. It flared up like a small boil. The other on my thigh. Both it turns out were horse fly bites. They are apparently quite prevalent at the moment - nasty looking critters when magnified.
