You can't have seen them last night then. They do get an impressive support though.
Worst supporters in the land by a country mile. Most of the ones who stayed until the final whistle only stayed to boo.

Impressive how? Shytting in a fountain? Shagging a seagull? or the bait box champions for Newcastle? They do get an impressive support though.
Bit Harsh
Sunderland are a better supported side than us. The last time Boro had 40,000 at our home game was 1963. Let thank sink in 1963 - Ironically against Sunderland.
I’d very happily win the cup from the second division. It makes it a greater achievement not a lesser one. Even then. More so now. There sense of delusion is staggering at times, let’s not forget they were in second division when they win the cup.
Don’t you? The way we keep banging on about it, especially about our away support, I assumed you did, or at least that it got you lots of points.Good job you don't win games of football based on attendance then

Seriously, we do seem to spend most of our time taking the **** out of them for having exactly the same delusions we do, on exactly the same basis, only just a bit more.
We have exactly the same delusion qualitatively, but less quantitively, as I said. Due to us being predominantly in the first division without winning anything during roughly the same period, 1890s to 1950s, when they were winning stuff, we think we should still be predominantly in the first division. No one on here will ever assess our “natural” potential based on what we did on our own merit between the Second World War, and when Gibson started throwing a shed load of cash at it. Funny that.We don't have the same delusions at all to be fair. Due to them winning titles in the late 1800s and early 1900s they believe they are still one of the big clubs in English football. They aren't. We don't for a second believe that - nor should we obviously.
Every clubs crow about their attendances when they are decent. Nothing to see here.
Erm nopeWe have exactly the same delusion

Both clubs have fans who think they should be in a better place than they are. There's no doubt about this. All clubs are the same.Nah disagree. The 2 clubs have been similar in performance for around 70 years and both sets of fans have very different opinion of where their clubs sits in the grand pecking order. Their delusion incorrectly comes from success in the early 1900s (Huddersfield and Preston also won titles back then).
About the most blatant misquote I’ve ever seen. You missed the qualitatively, but not quantitively bit.Erm nope
You seem to have the issue.

It’s not as extreme as the Sunderland delusion. But it’s exactly the same logic. We are not AS delusional as they are, but we are delusional in the same way.
To be accurate, no, they didn’t. Preston’s titles were in the 19th century and Huddersfield won theirs in the 1930s. But you are right that they dwell on past titles a bit my point is that we dwell on past seasons in the first division a bit. It’s kind of the same thing. Doesn’t mean **** in the 2020s.Nah disagree. That’s probably something no one can argue with. Both clubs have fans who think they should be in a better place than they are. There's no doubt about this. All clubs are the same.

And if we are honest, there is an element of that in our rivalry too. Not because we are struggling to stay on a level with them, I agree with those who have said we have been more or less on a level with them for 70 years. But because we always struggle to cope with the fact that they care less about us than we do about them.Yeah that's fair. I honestly think Sunderland fans are worse than most for it. I think the Newcastle thing plays a big role in it. They are desperately trying to stay relevant with them.
No footy songs make sense! Anyway 30k working class people paying an arm and a leg to stand in the cold and sing love songs to 11 millionairs who kick a ball around, the whole concept is ridiculous so why shouldn't the songs be?And stop singing that dirge “oh Carrick says”
A load of words shot together because they rhyme.
It doesn’t make sense and sounds s**t.
Leeds get vilified for singing marching on together 20 times a match, yet the south stand do the same every game. at least their song makes sense
