The Return of Spitting Image

This is huge, the electorate were much more savvy and familiar with politicians when Spitting Image was around. Hopefully this is a way to get the masses a bit more switched on with what the government is about and how they are destroying this country and it’s democracy.

A bit insensitive on the day Prince Andrew is accused of groping women using a spitting image doll of himself.

RuPaul, Adele, Kim Kardashian, James Corden, Beyoncé, Andrew Windsor, Donald Trump, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kanye West and Vladimir Putin - all in the new series . pretty much covers all bases.

plenty of material to have a laugh at that circus.

The show that Pretty much moulded my life and gave me my love of politics that continues to this day

I used to love spitting image back in the day.

fluck and law were geniuses and the talent that worked on that show has never been equalled from The impressionists the writers producers it reads like a who’s of British comedy.

it’s incredible the names that worked on it.

I’ve read about its return but great to see it’s finally happening.

Will there be a Diane Abbott doll? I'm guessing some might see it as depicting racial stereotypes.

Can't see why not. Although obviously would need to be careful with the design of the puppet as you say. If they're doing Beyonce and Megan Markle though it's the same challenge.

Shame it looks like it might be limited to Britbox.
Not for you nyb as it was being made for the us market

Unlike its 1980s heyday, Mr Law said the new series would not focus on the lower ranks of British politics, explaining: "It's an awful lot of trouble to go to, and you want it to be effective."
He told the paper the show's producers are in talks with US-based networks about bringing the show to a wider global audience.

not sure if that’s the case though

Roger law one of the co creators never hid his hatred of the tories especially thatcher and openly admitted he made the show to change her policies or to bring down her regime altogether.

Spitting Image creator Roger Law has revealed his disappointment that the satirical puppet show failed to halt Margaret Thatcher’s policies.
Roger, who designed the caricatures for the show with Peter Fluck, spoke to the Sunday Mercury days after the former Prime Minister died of a stroke aged 87 at The Ritz.
Speaking from Sicily, where he is on holiday, he said: “I hated Thatcher’s policies and was determined to do Spitting Image. The show was allowed to be harsh and confrontational because Thatcher was so harsh and confrontational.
“It would be terrific if we had changed anything, but I am afraid we didn’t.

I don't pay for US content, just use the free UK offerings - Channel 4 do keep trying to sell Britbox to me, though.

It was quality TV . Remember when Thatcher was dismissed her tears in the Commons sat by herself . Epic !

I'm crossing my fingers for this because TV political satire is dead in this country. The likes of Mock the Week and HIGNFY have long since become just mainstream dross dressed up as edgy.
