Not sure that's entirely true. Some of the recent winners have been well deserved and there've been years when competition has been high. Its just been a rubbish year for British sport. Normally between WC/Euros/Olympic years a boxer is in the mix but Tyson Fury has decided to destroy the sport unfortunately.

I agree but athletics just seems to have lost a lot of kudos in recent years, mostly because of all the drugs and arguments about gender I guess.
