I dont think he ever played as a winger as such, he was straight in the box once the ball went wide. I always liked him, but others clearly didn't. Im not sure he had the mobility as a striker in the prem, but maybe with pace next to him he'd have been ok.
 
He was quick to be sold as soon as the Prem season ended. Maybe he would have been a better option than spending vast amounts on Assombalonga, Fletcher and Braithwaite, particularly when we had Bamford and Gestede already. But then that's what we did in those days. We replaced Nugent and Rhodes with Bamford and Gestede the previous January and didn't gain much from the decision.

Let's hope we are on sounder footing nowadays with the new regime. The amount of money we've wasted in the last decade is scary to say the least.

We are still buying bang average players. Most of those bought in the close deason are nowhere near good enough
