Sheff Wed 12 POINT PENALTY

We can only hope they get relegated next season.
No compensation for. Charlton or Wigan I know

Agreed, hopefully it has an impact on players thinking about signing for them too, a 12 point deduction may just deter one or two maybe.

Given that it is for the three seasons leading up to 17/18 - I'm not sure Charlton can complain too much. They went down through not being good enough at the football.

I hate this FFP. They need to get rid of it.
But some of the players they had in that period of time are still here today and shouldn't be. Westwood and Lees might have been sold, they wouldn't have been able to sign Fox. Funnily enough it might be signing Jordan Rhodes for 10m that sent them over the limit in that time frame!

FFP if applied correctly works, it's just when you've got inadequate organisations overseeing it it fails (see also Man City and UEFA). Let's not forget Wednesday weren't caught bacuse they sold their ground back to a dodgy owner, they failed because an accountant put it in the wrong tax year when doing the accounts. If they had a competent accountant none of this would have ever happened.

If you are Aston Villa it is cheat for 3 seasons but get promoted and don't pay at all next season in the PL.
That is the one that really stinks.

Villa filed a pre tax loss of £117m in 2018-19 the season they crept up.
They filed a loss of £33m in 2017-18 season.
They filed a loss of £8m in 2016-17 season
All 3 seasons they were in the Championship and received PP; reflected in their accounts.
Their combined loss is £158m across the 3 seasons.

In the Championship, there can be an injection of £8m per season to offset losses from a FFP perspective.
Villa injected nothing in 2016-17, but £57m in 2017-18.
They injected an incredible £106m in 2018-19.
Aston Villa's owners have injected a staggering £171m across the same 3 year period.
There is nothing to stop them doing this, but only £24m of this equity injection is allowed to offset losses within FFP across any 3 year period.

If we take £24m off the 3 year loss then their FFP deficit is c£134m across a 3 year period.
The maximum allowable loss after allowing for capital is £15m across a 3 year period.
They are £119m outside the regulations.

It is absolutely incredible that the PL have not taken account of this.
In my opinion a club should not be allowed to be promoted if they are such violent breach of the Championship FFP rules.
In my opinion Villa should have been relegated to League 1 or worse, not been rewarded with promotion to the Premier League.
The PL will take no action because they want Aston Villa in it; same as Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham, Everton.
Any club outside this (plus the big 6) would simply have had the book thrown at them.
It really really stinks.
If and when the perennial under achievers and fūcker uppers next get relegated then the Football League should apply the maximum penalty they can for the next season. Better still apply it in relation to the multiple of times they were outside the rules. Relegate the cheating b***ds to League 2 like Rangers got ( I know it is a different offence)

Absolutely spot on

I think they should have got a much greater points penalty for a blatant disregard of league rules and something that is tantamount to fraud. Most other seasons I think relegation would be the most appropriate sanction, but this year who does that affect. Wigan at the minute have no owners and no guarantee of being in business next season. Charltons owner infighting is likely to render them at risk of administration and god knows what is going on at Hull. I really dont know what the answer is.

Rangers were liquidated and replaced by a new club.

All these FFP rules are beyond me I'm afraid.
All I want to do is watch the football.
Who goes up and down should be decided by how football teams perform on the pitch.
But instead it's decided by teams of accountants, lawyers and businessmen behind closed doors.
We are not too far away from individual results being decided weeks after the final whistle by courts set up to determine if it was a goal or not.
It feels like the game is being stolen from ordinary people by a wealthy elite who have three main priorities.
1 - Money
2 - Money
3 - Money
I can't really see any way to get it back.

Perhaps competent accountants wanted no part of this.

Weren’t Wednesday also being sponsored by shell companies set up by the owner, such as a taxi company with no taxis or is that just a rumour?

If true they should be getting 12 point deductions for EACH contravention of the rules.
Thats the point. They artificially enhanced their income from ficticious sponsors thereby making a mockery of FFP rules. Quite astonishing in their brazen attempt to cheat the system.

After 8 months and 17 days since they were charged it's a shocking decision, the 'independent' commission should be made to give their explanation for it not applying now and as the hearing was in June also tell us what have they been pondering about in the month+ since.

Well yes, but that doesn't change the fact that the timing of the punishment is completely arbitrary. Charlton have no more right to benefit from it than whoever finishes third bottom next season, should Sheff Wed go down.
