true but the point still stands in regard to the examples of police brutality. There was one of a cop shooting some guy in the back a couple of weeks ago, pretty damned terrible. there are plenty of examples of poor police activity.
The over ridding issue is that the US police have been steadily militarised for the last 40 years. It's neither a republican or Dem owned issue, they've both done it. The difference is the Dems have at least shown a desire to put money into schemes to stop people getting into crime, even if they haven' always followed through with delivery. The quality of policing has descended as the criteria and pay has dropped. It isn't a career for educated people, it's full of army drop outs, trailerpark trash and second generation immigrants trying to de-ghetto-ise themselves. This isn't the best police in the world, regardless of what TV shows tell us.
