Izzy was offside

I thought he might have been to be fair and I was pretty much in line with it, but I didn’t notice any of their players protest about it?

Not arguing about a freeze frame from a camera not in line with play, you think he's off & I'm not sure if 18 (& even the right foot of 4) is playing him on.
Assistant in line with play gave it, so accept it, celebrate & move on.

Who’s arguing?

Doesn’t the ball have to go forward to be offside?

Whilst others are right that there’s nothing in the offside law that says the ball must be passed forwards for an offside offence to occur, it is true that to be offside the attacker must be closer to the goal line than the second last defender AND the ball. Many people seem to forget/don’t know about the second part of that for some reason.

It’s difficult to tell the angle from the still images, but if Jones was level with the ball at the moment Engel crossed it, then he was onside.

Or if the pass was in any way played back over or level to the scorer he can't be offside regardless of where the defenders are.

Yes Adams, who tried to block the cross, kept Izzy onside. Izzy is so quick. The linesman was right. (y)

Probably both Adams and Goutas kept Izzy onside. Fine margins of course but let’s face it non of the Cardiff defenders or keeper protested or put their arm up so that further supported the onside ruling from the linesman or lass.

According to Cardiff manager Erol Bulut - ah well never mind 😃

They’ll be demanding the Ref and Linesman’s mic recordings to prove this was a sinister attempt to steal points from Cardiff. Oh wait no they won’t as they arent that far up their own arris.
