If Warnock chooses not to stay

I’m assuming he’ll be offered the job of course.

He could be a massive help and support to the club in finding the next person for the job 👍

also think he’s big enough and old enough to tell it like it is inside the club, if he goes.

I couldn't agree more! His experience would be critical at the moment for Mr Gibson as clearly a restructuring of the back room is desperately needed and by backroom I don't mean coaches!

Gibson never listens when he’s told a restructuring is needed, though.

You can have as many people as you want saying it’s needed, one man alone rules with an iron fist

We all know that a clear out of the back room staff has been required for years. Why would Warnock have anymore success than previous managers ?

If the terms are right, and I don’t just mean money, I am sure he will stay. He will want greater say/control over incoming players though and will have to agree to sales to fund some transfers. I personally think at least 2 of Britt, Fletch, McNair and Saville will be sold. If any really good offers come in for Fry and Spence they’ll be gone too I’d guess. We are looking at a 2/3 season rebuild unless NW can identify bargains on frees or released from others. Mowatt from Barnsley would be a nice start imho. Not sure NW will want that kind of time up here Is my only worry.

With no end to the coronavirus situation I would be really surprised if anyone offers any money in the championship for any of our players, especially with the salary they are on. Likewise I think we will be looking at frees or taking over contracts of players other clubs might need to shift. I am not sure how many players we will have left under contract but I would imagine we need to add quite a few, even just to cover injuries, suspensions and to fill the subs bench.

Have to agree mate

TBH we had the restructuring by Pulis..

Like many modern ex-top-player & new manager, JW seemed to think it was all about 'passing, passing & more passing' they've seen what Pep has done at City & think it's the missing link... & that.. is the new & only way..

We need a manager that will - first look at the squad, get the best out of them & instil the basics.. then introduce the more nuanced tactics & team play once the players are up to speed & able to do it..

Gibson got it wrong with Southgate & Woodgate.. Strachan should have worked, though way past his best, Pulis was short term.. all managers will ultimately 'fail' or move on..

Another Robbo would be good, with more than just charisma & inspiration.. I'm not seeing anyone from the PL that has that.. I think Grant could be a top coach / manager one day.. Pearson & Shakespeare would have been my choice - for ages.. I don't think, if they leave Watford, they'd come here anyway...

My thoughts exactly. What the likes of Woodgate etc are failing to see is that Pep/Klopp etc are putting this pretty football into practice with usually the best part of a billion pounds worth of talent!

I am much more optimistic than for some time.

1. We have a good manager who has an unparalleled record of getting out of this league who seems to be loving it here.

2. We have seen the back of some deadwood on big terms and there is the opportunity to move some more now as contracts end or near their end. We have much less in the way of liabilities (huge contracts outstanding and high balance of fees still to amortise). We just need to get the best bang for our buck and that means moving some on.

3. There will be a lot of players concerned about their futures post covid, reassessing what they think they are worth. I think less money will buy much more in this league.

4. The manager has a great record of quickly renovating a squad and getting promotion - most recently at Cardiff where in his first full season he signed 13 and brought in 6 on loan, while moving 11 on and loaning 10 more out.

5. We have some good young prospects (Tavernier, Spence, Coulson and Wood to name just 4)

There is an awful lot to do and the challenge is massive, but I see real hope now.

I am pretty sure he will be offered the job but I think it is more likely he may turn it down given he is not getting any younger and the distance to his family

The thing is, its in his blood. I doubt he'd have come here for a few games and that Ronnie Jepson would pack in a full time job with Northampton to take a fleeting shot at keeping Boro in the Championship. I am certain Neil Warnock will still be here next season and I'm desperately hoping he is.

Hope he is staying but we need to know asap to try and get Chris Houghton if Neil decides to go.
