TBH we had the restructuring by Pulis..
Like many modern ex-top-player & new manager, JW seemed to think it was all about 'passing, passing & more passing' they've seen what Pep has done at City & think it's the missing link... & that.. is the new & only way..
We need a manager that will - first look at the squad, get the best out of them & instil the basics.. then introduce the more nuanced tactics & team play once the players are up to speed & able to do it..
Gibson got it wrong with Southgate & Woodgate.. Strachan should have worked, though way past his best, Pulis was short term.. all managers will ultimately 'fail' or move on..
Another Robbo would be good, with more than just charisma & inspiration.. I'm not seeing anyone from the PL that has that.. I think Grant could be a top coach / manager one day.. Pearson & Shakespeare would have been my choice - for ages.. I don't think, if they leave Watford, they'd come here anyway...
