Australia to ban recreational vaping

But health experts advise that vapes are not risk-free - they can often contain chemicals - and the long-term implications of using them are not yet clear.

"No more bubble-gum flavours, pink unicorns or vapes disguised as highlighter pens for kids to hide them in their pencil cases," Mr Butler said.

I'm going to use a vape to try to quit smoking so I hope they don't try to ban it here.

Driving is a filthy habit. Vapings fine. Other than you look like a bit of a ****.

If you read the article it’s ban it for recreational use but make it easier as a substitute for cigarettes to help quit smoking.

Totally agree the industry always argues that it’s for helping ween people of cigarettes yet they package it for kids who weren’t addicted to any substance prior to vaping

The companies manufacturing this mostly uncessary crap should be forced to set aside a significant % of their profits aside in readiness to settle future compensation claims from users and the NHS.

It wont happen though as the government know that shortly there will be no NHS. And the majority those affected will sadly just have just die a lingering death as they won't be able to afford treatment. The nations kindhearted folk will respond with a healthcare equivalent of food banks.

And them that currently have will continue to have, and not give a f about anything other than making more money.

Our dystopian future is almost at the front door.

There's an article from the USA where the oil from vaping is attached to the lungs, and could be more dangerous than smoking.
The truth/research will take years to come out, as it did with the truth about tobacco.

Vaping-related lipoid pneumonia is the result of inhaling oily substances found in e-liquid, which sparks an inflammatory response in the lungs. Symptoms of lipoid pneumonia include: Chronic cough. Shortness of breath.

The best way to stop smoking is to go cold turkey, Mrs and I both stopped 6 yrs ago, my mate stopped 5yrs ago by starting vaping, but he is still vaping today and admits he would struggle to stop.

What’s the best way to give up Krispy Kreme donuts? Obviously you can’t go Cold Turkey because of the outrageously high crack content.

Vaping isn’t fine, no long term safety data yet but inhaling chemicals isn’t ever going to be good long term. As an alternative to smoking it’s better but many aren’t using it in that way

I think it is a ticking time bomb, from what I have read so far and just a scant knowledge 9not a health professional) of what it does to the respiratory system.

Vapes are highly addictive; children of friends of ours 'tried' one for free at a festival, and of course are now hooked although 'only do it for fun and could stop at any time'
