Just been on Radio 5 Live. Andy Preston is going to bring this in for the town.

I get this but why stop at shops? Why not pubs and restaurants where we remain longer? He was asked that question and his answer was that shops were a start. Im guessing if you have to wear a mask in a restaurant people will simply not go so there is hesitancy.

I think he made some good points:
He highlighted the fact that people need a reminder that the virus is still active and remains a danger to public health.
He also said the Government and Senior Medical advisors had been inconsistent.
Good for him(y)

He did but as I say you have to bring this in to pubs and restaurants too don't you otherwise there is a no consistency? Scotland have made it mandatory.

You also then have to bring it into gyms, leisure center's, health spas and finally indoor sport. Good luck playing squash or 5 aside football in a mask.

But then again it's Preston on a power trip much like the parks fiasco.

I'll keep a face covering in the car just incase I have to visit a shop mind.

Agreed.
Leadership starts at the top.
Its no surprise that we have people in positions of authority contradicting each other about safe practices.
Ordinary people rightly question why regulations and protocols change as we pass through country borders [Wales / England / Scotland / Northern Ireland]?
The main issue is that people are still dying and being diagnosed daily with this deadly virus.

The Government are on the verge of introducing this nationwide. Johnson seen wearing a mask in a shop yesterday. Its the start I am sure.

Yeah seen that.

Be interesting to see what happens in the long run.

Two questions, what will he the rules regarding visiting banks and petrol stations? I'm fairly sure folk in the bank won't like it when I rock up to one with a face covering and a pair of sunglasses on.

😏

I agree shopping, if brought in to pubs & resteraunts then that would stop those business's from earning a living, I'm not saying its right, or wrong just not practical, people would stop using those places

Like your Avatar perchance?

i agree although I also see the inconsistency. In shops you prevent people spitting their droplets into a confined space. In a pub and restaurant (and gym for that matter) you can carry on doing just that.

In many places around the world it is mandatory to wear a mask inside a restaurant or bar (although of course you can remove it whilst eating - you couldn’t not) but then you have to put it back on to go to use the facilities or if you are standing in any reception areas. . California for example.

They seem to think this will kickstart the economy because people are still not going out or to work. Just another reason not to go out for me. Will go to shops even less and use online more.

Plus as Randy says on another post what about gyms, leisure centre's, health spas, indoor sport and even football matches. If its airbourne surely those groups are most at risk. If it's airbourne surely gyms must not be allowed to reopen. They have taken precautions to stop people shouting in pubs but they are willing to have sweaty people grunting and groaning all over the place. Socially distanced of course:eek:

This is another example of a poorly thought out strategy. Who is going to supply face masks for those who can ill afford them? Who is expected to remove, what is essentially biological waste?

Face masks become petri dishes for the virus and there is very little evidence to suggest they reduce infection rates.

The trouble with this whole pandemic is there’s too many experts and politicians after their 15 minutes of fame Unfortunately the medical experts seem to be the biggest culprits.

Face masks are not to stop you catching it, they are to reduce the chances of you spreading it. They are surely a good idea if it brings gs down the rate of spreading the virus.

Anything works in this way, even your old Boro scarves, everybody should dig out their Charlton's Champions one as a mark of respect after today's sad news.
