ITV- The Hunt For Raoul Moat

Three part series starting on Sunday.

Will Gazza and his bucket of KFC be in it?

I suppose you can't have a moment like that in it as not only would it really embarrass Gazza (who had his issues at the time) it would also make light of what occurred. But it was a big part of the story... We went to Rothbury cycling last year and whenever I told anyone where I was going the first thing they said was 'Moaty & Gazza' sadly.

The Rothbury area is a beautiful place but will always be linked with Moat and the Gazza incident.

Seems in rather poor taste to be making a TV drama/entertainment out of an incident such as this. I could understand making a documentary about it, people are undoubtedly interested. Perhaps I'm just out of step with what most people think is acceptable as "entertainment"?

They have made them about Harold Shipman, Peter Sutcliffe, Tony Martin, Beverly Allitt, Amanda Knox, The Birmingham Bombings etc - not sure why they would consider the Raul Moat crimes to be something not to revisit? Just remembered Steve Coogan playing Jimmy Saville too...

I suppose we all have the choice to watch it or not though.

The only thing that's different is the time elapsed since some of them, there's also been one about Neilson too if I remember? With Saville it has a separate twist admittedly as it was swept under the rug for so long; the general mood of the public was people wanting it exposed and most of his victims wanted to be heard.

There's also a difference with the Amanda Knox saga as she was later acquitted.

Watched all 3 episodes yesterday.

Thought it was quite insightful of what actually happened. He really was an evil bast*rd.

The woman who played Samantha is from Norton, Sally Messham (y)

I haven’t watched it yet but I’d be interested to see how the police come out of it as it certainly wasn’t there finest hour. The money and the man power wasted was obscene. They even flew a tornado over to use it’s ground radar a tornado.

I was working out of the area at the time and had to drive home on the A1 around 5 pm ish every night and the amount of police cars I saw heading north from every force in the country was insane inc the met.

I even saw one of those anti terror police armoured land rovers you’d see in Northern Ireland heading north one night.

It was crazy and in the end All the time he was hiding about 10 feet away from them.

“The manhunt lasted almost seven days, and was the largest in modern British history, involving 160 armed officers and armed response vehicles, many seconded for the operation from other police forces. Police also used sniper teams, helicopters, dogs, armoured anti-terrorist police vehicles from Northern Ireland, tracker Ray Mears,[1] and even a Royal Air Force jet for reconnaissance. ”

Gazza could have found him. Gazza and the KFC not being in the story makes it a load of carp for me.. same with the Saville story without Kjng Charles.. pointless.

Mad, you'd think he had killed a copper or something and threatened to kill more. Crazy.
