As it has me as yes we all yearn to return to the premand battle the bigger sides but the championship has its charm as well as it really is a league anyone can win and every game we know we can compete.

It’s certainly not dull is it.

No, this has been one of the worst seasons I've experienced as a Boro fan. Of course I enjoyed the two Championship seasons under Karanka, but ultimately I just want us back to being an established Premier League club, competing against the likes of Man United and Liverpool in front a packed out Riverside.

I don't see us as ever truly competing with them. It's all about the money.

By that I meant 'giving them a game' whenever we play them, like we used to.
We'll never be able to get the quality of player they can afford, I'm afraid. I'd rather they went off to a European super league and let us have our football back.

I do enjoy The Championship to be fair.

More games

More night matches

More realistic chances of winning games

More away games

Plus the rollercoaster is more fun!

Although I do want us to get to the promise land again!

The championship is an excellent league, with as you say any team can beat others, I have no interest in returning to the PL though for the club to move on then, unfortunately, that's where we have to be

I would the least number of games I have attended in one season is the last ever venture in the PL

If I'm honest I took the championship for granted and assumed this would be our baseline, this season has made me see we can sink way lower. So from that perspective I do appreciate the championship more than I did.

I'm in my 30s BTW so was brought up with Juninho et al, didn't experience our last spell in the 3rd tier.

The two championship seasons under karanka were possibly my most enjoyable seasons following boro. However relegation fights and mid table finishes in the championship loses it charm pretty quickly.

Football, like any sport, is all about sporting glory, wanting to improve, wanting to be the best, to challenge the perceived status quo, chip away at the so called elite teams, to stick one over the best. Treading water as a championship club being a big fish in a lesser pond is not what I want.

I dislike an awful lot about the Premier League, but I want my Boro in there punching above our weight, rattling the cages of the London and North West teams and their biased press coverage, ruffling feathers, annoying their fans by showing no respect to their perceived status and occasionally causing a right royal upset that makes even Alan Shearer and Lineker begrudgingly admit we played well. Maybe getting to an occasional cup final, getting underneath the skins of the press, opposition teams and their fans........ who are ya!!! It’s what we as Boro fans love and should be aiming for as a club. Lets build to get there, stay there and shake up the elitist nature of the PL and all it stands for. Nobody remembers who finished 4th in the championship or beaten play-off finalists.

Enjoy the championship, but football is about being the best you can be and I do love the premier league. As Parmoboy says, nothing better than watching boro play top sides at the Riverside with a full stadium. Hopefully it happens within the next couple of years, that’s all we can hope for

I find the Championship is more consistently enjoyable to support your own team in, but less enjoyable as a neutral.

Would still sooner be in the Premier League but I'd end up dreading at least 12 matches a season as we'd likely get tonked by the big boys like most of them do.

The main reason I want to get back to the Premier League (other than the money to help pay off our debts) is so we can build a team good enough to challenge for a domestic cup again.

Not especially, but since we came down in 2009, I've quite enjoyed this league, I think for three main reasons. And I think that's why I don't find myself angry at Gibson for failing to get us back there.

a) the uncertainty of how any given season will pan-out, there've been times I've expected promotion and found ourselves in the bottom 6 (Strachan) and times I've expected mid-table and found ourselves in the play-offs (Karanka's first full season), and a load more between. When we were last in the PL we always hoped for top 6 but in reality it was almost always 11th-14th.

b) I'm not going to trash the PL, its a good league and I do think its the best in Europe, but its on telly far too much (watching a PL match isn't at all 'special' now) and the top 6 is usually quite predictable. Plus, I really dislike the way some of these clubs are owned by very questionable people (Roman, Sheikh etc) and their fans, in some ways understandably, lap it all up in return for some silverware. Then talk about their 'brilliant' teams as though the obscene money-gap is nothing to do with it.

c) if we went back up, we wouldn't be able to establish ourselves like we did in the 98-09 period because we just don't have the resources to. It'd be 3-4 seasons (at best) and back down like it is for most clubs outside the established 'safe 7'. Last time we were there it was rubbish and that was with a decent manager in charge who I liked a lot. To improve on this we'd probably need a 'new owner/new ground buzz' again somehow, and unless it was someone with equal or better credentials than Gibson to run the club (ie a Boro fan), I'm good thanks. Too many charlatans out there.
